Is this normal and dressings?
Hi girls, just a few quick questions, I can't feel my boobs at all, it's really strange, I can feel the sides of them, but the most stretched part nipples and cleveage part are completely numb. I am feeling some sort of sensation in my right boob every now and again like air bubbles (i'm sure they said that was normal). I'm not taking any pain killers as I'm not in any pain, but will I be in pain when my boobs come back to life?
Also my appointment to see the nurse is on 26th May that's 13 days after my op, is it ok to have the dressings on that long? Or should I be changing them (getting my friend who is a nurse to change them). Basically am just a bit paranoid, my O/H seems to think I have the post op blues, as I started to think "what have I done, did I really need this" And my boobs don't feel part of my yet so I don't feel anything for them. I thought I'd love them straight away. But they're a funny shape without my bra on and I can't look at them. I'm just having a down day I think. It doesn' feel real yet and am convinced something will go wrong. I should be happy. I feel like kicking my own

Awww you will soon be happy about them
Mine were funny shaped for ages lol but they gradually got rounder.
Pain is something I found hardest on day 2/3, I believe it's the same for alot of people.
Numbness is very normal and I couldnt feel mine for ages, they are still numb in some parts now and I'm about 8 weeks p/o.
Dressings are fine to be left on that long, I had mine on and was told not to touch them til my check up with the nurse, she took them off and just put steri strips on and told me I could get them wet then and they'd fall off xx

hi hun, mine are exactly the same, I've started to get some feeling at the sides but the rest are totally numb and hard and really not mine at all! I've had strange sensations too, sort of like air or gurgling (well it felt like it should be making a gurgling sound but was no noise!)

Thanks guys, I think I just needed reassurance. It's such a strange feeling not to feel your own chest. I got really shiny boobies as well where the skin has stretched. I think I'll have to put some palmers coco butter on them later.
Re: Is this normal and dressings?
hehe the shiny boobies i rem them lol i was numb for 6 weeks but still numb undneath for 10 months so yes its all normal

Re: Is this normal and dressings?
 cool, I'm feeling so much better now I've had a shallow bath and washed and dried my hair. I love my shiny boobies again now, almost knocked my cup of tea off the table with them earlier. Made me laugh for ages.

that made me giggle, sounds like you have had farty boobs lol mine were like that for the first week, i think mine were numb for about 3 weeks aswell but you gradually get the feeling back although mine are still a little numb near the scars.
I suffered from post op blues hun i think most of us do, its also a mixture of the GA and all the painkillers plus the build up to the day, but you will love your boobies when they settle and start to feel like yours.

yep got the farty shiny boobies at the moment. Weighed earlier and have put on 6lbs, gutted, but I'm sure it will go, my new boobs cant weigh that much
Re: Is this normal and dressings?
Hi i couldn't feel mine either at first, slowly getting feeling back, i left my dressings on until i saw the nurse 10 days post op, now just have steri strips on. I get air bubbles to this is normal just the implant settling.I don't think you should change your dressings just leave alone until you see your nurse to lessen any chance of infection xx

Re: Is this normal and dressings?
You got it kick your
All normal...shiney.pointy.farty.numb.
You have managed a bath and washed your hair...doing good girl!
I think it is experiencing the unknown and alien journey and boobs.
I felt the same about my boobs 'not very friendly' to them! I did love the feeling of knowing they were there... anything on my chest was appreciated!!! but, scared the life out of me..could not look at them or touch whooo noooo.!! To be honest I was o.k. with that though, knew they would settle into me when they were ready ...but I did not have a clue as to what they should look like remember you have been looking at others boobs here soo patience girl and they will feel part of you and you will forget that they are anything but part of you soon enough.
The bandages I would think should stay put, well certainly any on your incisions. Perhaps just check with clinic to ease your mind. In the meantime rest and allow yourself and boobies time to adjust to the new place they are now. And a big hug is being sent your way xx

Re: Is this normal and dressings?
thanks mia, totally agree, they're alien to me at the moment. I'm sure I'll get used to them eventually. I've eaten some garlic too, not much. But it was soooooooooo good. I won't touch the dressings I got on. Leave them for the nurse :)

Re: Is this normal and dressings?
Everything you've described sounds perfectly normal. I would say your dressings will be ok to be left for 13 days... best not to fiddle at all!

Re: Is this normal and dressings?
Hey hun, as the lovelies sais itis all totally normal, mine underneath still feel a little numb around the sides and near the scars, they get better each day tho. As for thinking...what have you done, this is totally normal too, when i seen my for the first time (10 days) when i got my dressing off i cried and though what have i done to myself as i wasn't that bad to start with, lol. Its norml to feel like this as its all pretty alien to you at the mo, your boobs will feel as though they are not part of you, just some melons stuck on, lol. (well thats how i felt, haha). Trust me, each day gets better and better and you'll soon be totally loving them and not looking back, congrats hunny anyway, xxxxxxxxxx
