Not 1, not 2, not 3 but FOUR Mondor's cords - BOO!
Have been wondering why lifting my arms above my head has been pulling near my incisions and realised just now that I have 3 Mondor's cords under my rightie and 1 under my leftie Have looked through the old posts and noticed that a few others have suffered with this too and a general search seems to show it's not a major problem - hope so!
Those of you who have had them, roughly how long did they take to go and did you do anything to move them along?
Thanks!

I massaged them and stretched and they only lasted a couple of weeks. Heard that having a bath helps too, only have showers so didnt try this. XXX

Cheers sparkyleeds & fran!
A couple of weeks sounds good. Great to know you guys got rid of yours so quickly. I'm off for a medicinal bath followed by a massage followed by leaving them alone!!

Hey hun, are these the same things as lymph nodes possibly? Im not sure what mendor chords are?! But if theres the same then I had these from sbout day 15 for about a week. They have gone now thank god. I put a little vit about my experience following on from my ba story......horrible things but appatently quite normal. Not much you can do though :/ x x x x
Re: Not 1, not 2, not 3 but FOUR Mondor's cords - BOO!
Thanks Chloerose for your input. I think lymph nodes are different as they are in the armpits aren't they?? Mondors cords are vertical veins just below the breast which you can only see and feel when blood gets stuck in them after surgery and you raise your arms. Slightly painful (tiny bit) and not pretty. But seemingly temporary - this forum is SO reassuring!
Glad your lymph nodes went down! (that's not a sentence I thought I'd ever type at 10 in the evening )

This sounds like what I have. One under my right breast and three under my left.
Very visible when I stretch and painful. In fact im almost certain that this is whats causing the acute pain where my scar is, just at the crease of my left breast.
I hope it goes soon.

I had a lot of mondors cords, I was instructed by my ps to leave them alone but to take one 200mg ibuprofen 4 times a day as this will help reduce the swelling that is causing the veins to adhere to the incision,
I took the ibuprofen when I remebered and just left well alone after a few weeks I didnt notice them any more and after a month when I looked for them they were gone,

Sue, think its a short term prob too. Thought i had one after I read a thread on here and it described what I thought I could see so I read all sorts about it on google and it does seem that its not serious and will go away.
I shouldnt read medical stuff on google - its like giving me a medical dictionary - I then suddenly have EVERYTHING ... cough cough twitch
Dont think mine is an MC afterall. Spose I will find out next week. x

Kat firstly, ace new avatar pic!!
I can totally relate to Google-hypochondria - t'internet's a mixed blessing sometimes!
If what you thought is not/are not MC(s) I wonder what else it/they could be? I hope it has will easily be sorted out next week when you rise phoenix-like from the operating table

Re: Not 1, not 2, not 3 but FOUR Mondor's cords - BOO!
aww thanks! wore it last night cos Id done romantic meal for DF! little two had early night and I bribed my two teenagers
starting to wish it was a mondors cord like I thought. PS says its a quick fix and its just a prob with the scar that I have but i have a serious case of hypochondria after reading the 'revisions' bit on here.
I like the phoenix from operating table picture - hahah - think It be more like a slow and creaky shuffle tho
I was fine after I had my kids (c-sectioners cos they awkward little breach babes! ) and so hopeful to recover easier after this cos no muscle work needed (amazingly!)
Fingers, eyes and toes crossed. x

Aw Moselle yuk Strange achey feeling describes it well. Only tips over into pain when I lean in an awkward direction. Let's compare progress and celebrate when they've gone The signs from everyone else are hopeful it won't be too long.

Re: Not 1, not 2, not 3 but FOUR Mondor's cords - BOO!
I felt them first. The veins on my arms pop out a lot after a heavy weights session so it feels like pumped up veins, although a bit harder. Mine run vertically underneath the centre of my boobs. This is my latest (it's more pronounced than it appears on the photo) although if you do a google search you'll see much clearer examples.
