<p>Mondor's Cord
Mondor’s Cord is not really a complication, however it is something that some patients do experience anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks after the surgery. It is considered a benign occurrence of a superficial vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis) of the chest wall and mammary region. Mondor’s Cord was named after Henri Modor (1885-1992), a famous French surgeon who originally described them.
Mondor's Cord appear with firm “cord-like” bands that form just under the skin near the breast. Mondor’s Cord appears when the veins near the site of surgery (the breast) have been traumatized during the procedure. It is the result of an inflamed or hardened blood vessel or vein.
The condition of Mondor’s Cord appears as one or more raised ridge or “cord like” veins noticeable under the skin, near the site of the surgical procedure. The cord like veins begins at the breast and extends down onto the abdominal area. The veins appear swollen, and there can be some pain associated with this complication, however, typically they are just more a nuisance. Mondor’s Cord can either show up in single formation or sometimes appear in a multiple pattern. These cord-like structures are temporary and they do go away with time. The inflamed vein poses no danger of systemic embolization.
Usually over the counter medications such as ibuprofen or a prescription anti-inflammatory will take away the pain, and also applying a warm washcloth over the area will help reduce the inflammation. The most common cause is basically having any incision near or around the breast, and can occur with breast reconstruction, breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift (mastopexy) and biopsies. These cords can appear in the upper outer area of either breast, below the crease line or in the underarm. The raised veins will feel firm and tight and can even feel slightly warm to the touch.

I did mention these to my ps at my 6 week consultation he didnt recommend anything just said they will go with time, which is helpful, but it is glad to see there is some helpful advice on here.

Re: I don't believe it!
oh fannies.
Well this could be good news sort of.
I had one of these ... didnt know I had a 'something' tho, I just thought it was where the skin was overstretched under my incision. I have just been to check and its definately gone. Its still a bit tight in that area but its gone. It looked like that pic you posted peggysue but a little smaller. It didnt hurt and so like I said I thought it was just overstretched skin.
Anyway ... good news is that its gone. Think I first noticed it a couple of weeks after and its got better and gone quickly. So maybe they do go in as little as a couple of weeks then??
Hope that helps. xx

Re: I don't believe it!
ooo I had 1 of theys and mine hurt! Im terrible with vain pain
I got it because I over used my arms and the vain become angry and decided to swell up to teach me a lesson one I didnt really need or want lol......
I found the best thing to get the welling down was minimal movement pf the arm connected to the boob and ICE is the key, just dont put it staight on you boob as youll get frost bite so rap it up in a tea towel or i used frozen peas in a tea towel and my god did that help and took the pain away, 3 days doing thins and it was gone

Crystal I think it was fom over working. I was back at wok madly hoovering a huge house very hot and sweaty and also I have been weaing a sports bra to cup sizes to small which probably didnt help at all.
Yesteday I calmed down a bit, I went back to the gym but only doing lower body and hey presto today I cant see alot I can still feel it a bit but its going away and the other side keeps coming and going.
Its allgood and very reassuring that so many girls have had them.

Hi Kat4... thank you for your messages
I contacted the seller to ask him what's the status of my wedding dress and he answered "well i almost finished it but if you want, send me your new sizes and I make a new one"... LOL is he serious?? I don't think he really finished it, he's just saying this to cover his back.

Re: I don't believe it!
Hey Peggy... I know, I can't wait for summer either and I know you are right, time flies!
Still going with Mr. C since I think he is a great Surgeon... but I am more and more starting to doubt the whole thing! I just had the ok. from work yday and get myself going for it... and I couldn't wait for this! but I will put a thread up as I need some advise!
but you look great Peggy!! would love to see some new pics!!! you are exactly what I want to look like (just not as big ;-) ) but shape and everything... only I am worried I can't since I have a complete different build/ different boobs to start of and I am starting to think I have unrealistic expectations... sorry, for going on!
hope Martha is gone for good and you are feeling great!!!!
xaxa... only 6 weeks to go, excited??? what size are you going with?
