Re: HOW SOON AFTER BA CAN I DRIVE
Depends on the car, mine's a small car with power steering and I was driving after a week and a half, with my daughter whose 15 putting it into 5th gear and reversefor me, that was the hardest bit to achieve. I live in the country so its a necessity to drive, so I had to know that I could do it in case of an emergency. At 3 weeks it was no problem at all though.

Re: HOW SOON AFTER BA CAN I DRIVE
Depends a bit. An auto is easier than a manual. I was driving short distances in my auto with power steering at 5 days post op

Re: HOW SOON AFTER BA CAN I DRIVE
My insurance stated that I couldn't drive for a week after surgery so I haven't even gone near it. 7 days is up today so I'm going to drive it up the road and see how it feels. It's a proper old knackered thing heavy gears and clutch so I'll let you know how I get on!

Well, tried it and wasn't a problem. Just be extra careful going into reverse and fifth.

Re: HOW SOON AFTER BA CAN I DRIVE
I drove after a week too. Just be careful, I felt fine to drive but 9 days post op I had to go on the motorway and hadn't realised how hard I would find it to get into 5th and 6th gear!! Reverse wasnt so bad for me - I used two hands which I found helped to give me the strength! xxx

Re: HOW SOON AFTER BA CAN I DRIVE
I'm 10 days post op and haven't tried driving yet but i'm itching to get back behind the wheel. I'm not back at work until Friday so got another 4 days yet before I NEED to drive but i'm at the point now where i really WANT to get in the car and get my independence back! I'm a terrible passenger! Its strange to think that something we take for granted may be difficult for a while. xxx

Re: HOW SOON AFTER BA CAN I DRIVE
I drove after 4 days... Very naughty! As I couldn't turn the wheel properly and change gears without it hurting! I had to use both hands to reverse! I'd say a good 7-10 days Hun xx also check with ur insurance company! Xx

Re: HOW SOON AFTER BA CAN I DRIVE
I was told 2 weeks. I drove for the first time after 11 days. it was a bit tricky - went back to threading the steering wheel and couldn't use 5th gear! if I need to I went straight to 6th (lucky i have that option!)
it's only been the last week that i can comfortably use 5th gear.
leave it as long as you can I say! although you might go a bit crazy!
xx

Re: HOW SOON AFTER BA CAN I DRIVE
I drove after 4 days, but an automatic and was sure to just scoot my hands around the wheel and didn't cross my arms over my body whilst turning the wheel
