Terrified and need support Empty Terrified and need support

Post by bettyboob30 11th January 2012, 11:43 am

Hi girls,

I'm new on this forum and have come here for some support.

Basically I am having problems with one of my breast implants. I had them done 3 years ago and within the first year I started to get discomfort in my left breast and up the back of my left arm. I assumed this was part of having breast implants and just ignored it. Now after three years I have been having quite alot of pain in my breast and when I press on it near the cleavage it feels strange to the touch and creates a burning pain. I also get pain up my left arm, round the left side on my back and down my left ribcage. I also find it hard to breath on the left side like my lung is struggling to inflate and it feels heavy. I also have a lump on the bottom of my left ribcage which when pressed it feels tender.

I am so terrified that the implant has ruptured and that the silicon has leaked to my major organs as I also get palpitations.

I really don't know where to turn to be honest as I can't speak to my partner as I feel this is all my fault because it was my choice to have them done. I also have 3 kids and feel stupid that I have risked my life for nothing. Terrified and need support 856466 I just want someone to tell me its going to be alright x

The silicone in your implants should be quite cohesive, so won't leak all around your body or to your organs. You might have a rupture and some silicone can migrate to the lymph nodes in your arm pit. You probably should have gone back as your clinic could have covered you within your aftercare period (normally 3 years) I would probably go back to your clinic and also check what implants you have (you may have seen a lot about pips in the news)

You are going to be fine. You may be getting panic attacks from worrying so much. Which could be why you are having heart palpitations. Also the feeling in your arm could be a trapped nerve, did you have under the muscle implants?

Hiya,

Thanks for the replies. I have got an appointment today and in hindsight I know I should of gone sooner but i thought it was just what you have to put up with, with implants. I had 300cc hp allergan implants so I know they are not pip ones but I still worry due to my symptoms that it may have ruptured. Thanks for the advice. x

Aw hun, just read your other thread which is in the ask a surgeon section so I won't post there. I'm so glad you have an appointment to see your surgeon today, sorry you feel you have to go on your own. You shouldn't feel guilty and you didn't bring this on yourself. You have nothing to feel guilty about. Complications can happen to anyone. It's not your fault.
I asked if you had unders as I thought maybe your muscle may have been tight on one side. But as you had overs I guess it could be cc.
But don't panic, stress will make you feel worse. You can get this all sorted and be back to your normal self soon.

You will be absolutely fine hunni! Hope everything's going well with your surgeon and you get sorted soon. Let us know how you get on.

Agree with Misf....you're probably making yourself nervous. Also, do NOT feel guilty. THis is something that you wanted and did...no one in this world makes 100% safe decisions at all times. That's part of life!! You'll definitely be ok!!

You will be fine hunTerrified and need support 571992 as Misf1 said you had a cohesive implant so it can't migrate to your organs........the heart palps are probably due to the stress your feeling and I would think the pain is due to nerves being trapped.

I would go back to the clinic like you have done but I was also told I would need to get mine scanned either every year or 2-3 years ( I cant remember, Thats terrible isnt it!) My G.P is more then happy to refer me to the MHS to get my implants scanned to make sure the have not ruptured as has done so in the past when I found a lump but everything was fine.........

So see what the clinic offers you and in the mean time I would go to your G.P and see if he will send you for a breast scan which your intitled to ( dont think as you paid for them private you can have a nhs scan as this is not the case hun) and take it from there. Dont be worried about what people will think of you at the breast clinic, I was worried sick as there would be ladys there and doctors treating women for breast canser so though they would judge me but it was the total oposit, the breast specialist I saw was a lovely lady who said my P.S done a amazing job and that Breast implant have come along way over the last 10 years and I should be very pleased with the result, she went into my history of why I had it done and totally under stood my reasons and even said I done the right thing, which was very touching how much she under stood how I felt...

She told me if I ever get any problems with them in the furture then get my G.P to refer me back and she will gladly see me again.....

This was all done with in a week of being refered by my G.P so I didnt have to wait around long.......

Hope you get this sorted out hun and try not to worry about it as what ever happend it can be fixedTerrified and need support 571992

I totally understand why you feel guillty but please try not to. As others have said, you didn't choose to have a problem, it just happens and it's probably not be as serious as you think. If you don't talk to your partner, friend, family you will get yourself in a real state, blowing everything out of proportion. Get someone you love on board with you - you'll feel better while you and your surgeon sort out whatever glitch you have. It'll be resolved one way or another and you will feel closer to whoever you confide in.

Don't beat yourself up - if your boobs have made you feel better about yourself generally, then they have been a gift to those around you also!

Hugs
