Consultation Q's..?? Empty Consultation Q's..??

Post by momojack 19th December 2011, 7:23 pm

Hi everyone,

i have been reading over lots of info on cosmetic surgery websites..
my head is spinning!! Consultation Q's..?? 869500

When they offer a free consultation, does this mean it is with a PCC rather than a surgeon?
Do you then pay when you do see the surgeon?
And why do some have you see a PCC first, what is discussed? ..doesnt this risk losing the patient to another company that has a surgeon do the first consult??

help... Consultation Q's..?? 751387 xx

Post by Holly19872 19th December 2011, 7:52 pm

I went to 3 different consultations...

1st one I paid £100 and saw only the surgeon, discussed size, why I wanted it, money, tried on some implants, risks etc..

2nd one I went to see a surgeon and was free, same as above.

3rd I went to see PCC 1st and she pretty much discussed everything, but no trying on, the same day I saw the surgeon for free too, he also went trhough everything again and tried on implants.

Transform, who I went with, I woulod reccomend, seeing the PCC and as many different surgeons as you like is free.

Hope that helps :) xxx

Some of the clinics are a bit of a travel..plus getting childcare..was just wondering if i would have to visit for 2 seperate consults (PCC & Surgeon) before the surgery.

I had just one appointment with THG which was free. Saw the PCC first to go through the procedure, the hospital & just an overview really. Then went in to see the surgeon who went through sizes, took measurements, ran through the operation, risks & what I hoped to achieve.

I then went back in to see the PCC to try on the sizers & go through the cost! I was there at the clinic for about 2 hrs in total. I went on the Friday, booked it on the Monday morning & had it done 3 wks later! xxx

I saw a private surgeon for free. I have seen him twice and having op in Jan. I think every surgeon and group is different. The best thing would probably be to get yourself a short list of preferred surgeons/groups and then phone them up to ask the questions about who it will be with and any initial cost. They will have to disclose any costs before they charge you. X

Post by roxanne 20th December 2011, 2:00 am

I had a consult with a surgeon from a private practice near mine for £100. With this fee I could have had a second consult with him, but haven't gone back because I decided on another surgeon instead.

I went to Mybreast for a consult, it cost £25 but will come off price of surgery if I book with them. I wanted to see a specific surgeon, and asked for him when I phoned Mybreast. I have seen him twice so far. I also had a phone consult after that because we had more to discuss. Plus, he wants to see me for another consult before surgery, so I'd say it was £25 well spent.

I have a pcc at Mybreast, I have only seen her once as she wasn't there the second time I went, though I did speak to her a few times over the phone. It is with her that I book consults and surgery date, and discuss prices. As for everything else, I see surgeon directly.

I went to transform. I booked my consultation over the phone told them I knew what I wanted had chosen my surgeon and I wanted to see my chosen surgeon straight after my pcc consult. So if you research which surgeons are there or ask them on the phone to see a surgeon that's there on the day your pcc consultation is. Do go and see lots of surgeons and companies, do take pictures with you to show the surgeon what you want. Do not let them push you into booking or paying a deposit until you are sure you want to go with them and have seen others. Do not be tempted by special offers, you will always be able to haggle that amount off the price. Always make sure you will have a good aftercare package.

I had 4 consults (only last 3 listed in my signature as 1st one didn't give me any info)

1) Met the surgeon at first meeting, she operates privately and was recommended by a friend. Appt was free but didn't give me much info other than she only does unders.

2) Harley Medical Group - saw pcc and liked her so booked to see the surgeon which cost me £100 (comes off the price of surgery). I refused to pay the full £500 to secure the surgery date as I wasn't committing to that without meeting the surgeon first.

Whilst researching the surgeon found this website.

3) Transform - booked on recommendations from the girls here. Saw PCC first to run through procedures, cost etc. Then saw the surgeon at a later date for measurements, try on implants etc. Have since been back to speak to PCC again and try on implants again because I could (all free).

4) Private Surgeon who operates at Highgate - free consult - booked on the back of two personal recommendations. Really liked him but not as much cover as Transform and also Transform is easier to get to for me for check-ups etc.

There is a link to my diary in my signature if you want to read everything.

Also regarding questions - I went armed with a notebook with my questions written down. My boyfriend took note of anything that was answered as we went along and then I ran down the list at the end. It really helped and my mind did just go blank.

Oh and another note on Transform - if you tell them you would like to see a surgeon straight after the pcc - they can usually accommodate this with enough notice.

I got my OH to help and also when I saw an avatar on here I liked contacted the member to ask what their stats were including height weight etc (so I could get an idea compared to me) and asked if I could see their pics. You need to post more though before you can ask for pics.

I was lucky and found a couple of girls who are pretty much the same height, weight and pre BA size as me and had the same size implants as I am having so it gives me some guidance on my results.

Thanks Aurora, trying to post as much as poss so i can become an active member. It would really help to be able to see pics and get a good adea of what each size looks like, its hard to get an idea of sizes in clothes!

Currntly im almost completly flat..measuring 30AA, but i went up to a C when breastfeeding, this seemed like a more suitable size for my frame..i want a natural look and think i would be unhappy if they were too big!

decisions, decisions!!! Shocked

Do you still have an old bra from when you were a C cup?

I used to be a 32DD/E at my heaviest, I am now a 32C. I found it alot more meaningful to try on the implants with one of my old 32DD plunge bras than the stretchy bra they gave me, that's why I had two meetings with my pcc, as I went back with a wired bra.

I also took a tight vest top with me so I could look at my silhouette with implants and also a work shirt as I would rather not have to spend money on new work clothes when I could be spending it on pretty bras. The 460 looks like I can still get a way with my workshirts (just), the 525s would mean new workshirts.

Hi Aurora,

only a few months ahead of you- i remember the whole dilemma! the best advice i had from girls here was to see as many surgeons as you need to until you find one that you just feel 'right' with.

1. I had initial consult with MYA pc, booked to see surgeon but felt very pressured bu calls and letters from the pc, which put me off completely, so i took the advice and read up on surgeons.

2. I saw a very recommended surgeon through Laundeuer, so private but she waived the £125 consult fee as I said i didn't want to spend that upfront on first meeting. but tho she was lovely and only 20mins away but i didnt just feel confident with her for some reason

3. then saw another v experienced surgeon through Mybreast, £25. was tempted but he wanted to put bigger than I did, and though very reassuring I thought I'd still look about

4. Saw Dr. Judy Evans via Nuffield Plymouth. Free 'cosmetic day' where you can have 15 min with as many surgeons as you want. within 5 minutes I knew I felt totally at ease and confident with her so I booked a consultation- £120 which covers all consults and was then deducted from the surgery fee. I saw her for 2 full appointments pre surgery, first one was over an hour, and i took various implants home to 'try out'!second half hour.

I'm glad I went with Nuffield because it was really important to me to be able to speak/ see surgeon as much as i want, after the op she came to see me in the afternoon, the evening and the following morning before discharge, and when i had a slight prob 2 days post op i rang the ward and the surgeon called me back herself within 5 minutes. Just work out what is important to you, like whether you want to travel or not, stay overnight....

good luck deciding , and do your research on individual surgeons as at the end of the day they are the most important bit!

oh, also i looked heavily into the various clauses around the 'guarantees' and all work out very similar, plus i found when i asked all the bapras/ baarps surgeons were happy to guarantee their work themselves regardless of the policies company it was booked through.

Thanks jangledania, sounds like you maybe similar measurements to me. How are you healing? I see you had overs, im worried that i might be advised to have unders which are meant to be more painful and take longer to heal..not ideal with 2 little ones.

Im a size 8 and 5' 4" tall and 30AA bust...i was thinking around the 300cc mark so this is a good starting place... i like the idea of taking home implants to 'try out'!! :)

Unfortunately i dont have any of my breastfeeding bras anymore as i gave them away. I want to be as clear as i can on what i want before i go to meet anyone..

Hi! I was worried about unders too but they said i was fine to have overs. if you went to a c breastfeeding then i imagine you will be the same. i went to lager b/c. can you pinch at least 3cm of flesh at top of your breast? its all down to skin type too ie elasticity etc, so hopefully you'll be ok.

I was 32AA/ 30A had 300cc overs currently 30DD but poss go down more from swelling so maybe end up a 30 D. I'm 5'7" and size 8 on top so yes we are similar. i will try to upload my pics so you can have a look. i'm healing well thanks! i have 3 weeks til work now, so been advised to start stretching my arms more bit by bit and by 3 weeks i'll be fine to throw them around as usual. phew.

good luck xxx

the surgeon i had also works in bath, i assume at nuffield, so if you're in gloucestershire not too far to check her out. look out for nuffields free consult days if you like the sound of her. whoever you go with, maybe ask if you can take implants home. i don't know if other surgeons offer that or not, but i'm glad judy did as i was able to really get an idea of the size by having them at home a week.
