Morning boob! :(
My gosh how long does this last????!!!! I'm 1week in now and it's awful lol I know it's not helping that I've been slipping down the bed and almost lying flat again, well my shoulders and head are still raised with my 3 pillows... So when did you all manage to wake up and sit up without grabbing your boobs for dear life while taking deep breaths lol!!

Re: Morning boob! :(
Hi Misty i tend to get trouble with my leftie in first thing in the morning when i try to get up havt to lean right over to my right side first! and i been doing the breathing thing lol. My left breast also seems to have started to move in already (towards centre, as they sat a bit apart to begin with) but thinking maybe its cos im right handed so left muscle more relaxed. I'm trying to not do as much with my right arm now as i want the righty to do the same. Sorry i cant tell u how long it will last tho as ur further on than me ! Hows ur recovery other than morning now? Are you happy with ur boobies? big (gentle!) hugs to u xx

Re: Morning boob! :(
I got morning boob for a good couple of weeks, maybe about 3 weeks until I stopped the morning boob-grab. But it got better and better each day. At first, I had to roll over, take pills, wait a few minutes, then get up slowly, deep breaths, etc. It got to the point I was just holding them and standing up slowly, then just holding them, then one day I got up and was half way to the kitchen to put the kettle on before I thought "Oh, my morning boob is gone!"
Holly - morning boob is a nick name for the feeling you get in your boobs first thing in the morning. They feel really heavy, sore, standing up you kind of get a rush of blood to the boobs and they throb a bit. Once you get up and moving it improves, but when you first get out of bed, it can be a bit of a shocker..

Hahah I did the exact thing, lie there for 10 mins and hype myself up! I left a bottle of water and tablets at my bedside and took them as soon as I woke up, so they kicked in a bit after 10 mins xxx

Re: Morning boob! :(
Honestly the best prevention for me was sleeping totally sitting up and using ice 20 mins on 20 off almost all night (i'd sleep w/ the frozen peas and put them on boobs immed upon waking up - don't know how they stayed cold but it worked!!)
plus getting up and moving around really helps. the more you move during the day helps too.

Re: Morning boob! :(
Am at two weeks and its still making me catch my breath as soon as I wake but I can manage with deep breathing, holding myself firmly and careful getting up now.
At the start I had been taking pain killers as soon as I woke and leaving it ten minutes before I got up but its got easier every day and I am now at the point now where I can leave the pain killers. Its definately true that as soon as you start moving about it eases. x

Re: Morning boob! :(
Don't know if this might help u but sure helped me instead of holding them w my hands I used to place a pillow against my boobs applying pressure w the pillow bfore gettting up and lil b lil releasing the pressure made the morning boob not as bad....an defenatly try ur best to sleep for the most part upright...i know it's the worse thing ever but helps the morning boob feeling not be as bad!! For me right after morning boob I started having severe upper back pain like nothing I've ever felt in my life it made me cry for about 8-9 days I was shocked this was happening because it started 6-7 weeks aftr my surgery......

Re: Morning boob! :(
Hey morning boob I found was bad my 3 rd day as I'd slipped in bed I actually slept on the sofa for the rest of the first 14 days to prevent slipping and my morning boob was extremely minimal and gone the instant I was up and moving. Drastic meausures but worth it to not have morning boob again lol x

Re: Morning boob! :(
Ouch!!! I can totally relate to this post! That feeling when you are about to get up and know that the minute you pull yourself up they feel sooooo sore and heavy. Yep I'm still having this too. However each morning I am noticing it getting less and less painful. Definitely better the more upright I sleep. Does anyone know how long we are meant to sleep upright for? xx

Re: Morning boob! :(
Does anyone know if it is normal for just one to feel sore because my righty feels completely pain free but my leftie is giving me some pain on and off. It also has seemed to move inwards a little compared to the other one which is still pointing out (although not that noticable i can definately see the difference).xx

Re: Morning boob! :(
Thanks for all the replies ladies! I really should make more of an effort trying to sleep upright then lol!
Annaliese, my left boob has been the awkward one too being sore and feeling more swollen. My right one has been very well behaved lol wonder why this is as I've read alot of ladies having problems with only one boob...

Me too! My right has recovered so much quicker than the left! I wonder if it's because if you are right handed you use that side more? xxx

..oh and I heard that the side you use predominently will drop/move quicker than the other, as the muscles are more suple coz they get used more...problem boobies tend to be the 'unfavoured' hand.. don't know if it's true..only you girls could confirm it?!
