Is a hospital allowed to give out information
Hi Ladies
Dont know if this is in the right section, but i wanted to ask a quick question. My work didnt know that I was going for surgery and because they were nosy they called the hospital I was going to and apparently asked if I was there and the hospital person replied saying yes I had checked in on the 13th and was in the surgical ward.
Are they allowed to give out this information?

I'm not sure they're allowed to say your on the surgical ward they can confirm your there but not what op. God how crap of work they obviously don't believe you for what ever reason. You could always say you're having varicose vans removed cos that happens on the surgical ward If you didnt want them to know about your ba x

I'm not sure they can actually give any info.
Think it is a breech of confidentiality.
How rude of your employers anyway!

I would be more annoyed with the people at work!! And if I were you I'd be looking into making a formal complaint about the person who made the pione call invading your privacy! Did you take time off as sick leave or annual leave? If it was annual, I'd be ropable!!!
