Agony :'(
Hi
I havent been on here since the day I had my surgery, n the reason... I am in AGONY :'(
My sports bra is resting right on my stitches which is killing me, like a stinging sort of pain, both of my boobs are really sore. They are all swollen as well particulary down my sides (where your arms hang, under your armpits sort of area, I did have a 34" bra on yesterday so switched to a 36" back which gave me little comfort,I know its early days but jesus I cant do this anymore.
So yesterday I felt bad enough, then this morning I woke up flat on my back (after going to bed propped up with all my pillows, I feel like someone has been pounding my chest all night even to touch my chest is killing me feel like my implants have moved right up my chest towards my neck from sleeping in this position all night, n now Im worried I have done some sort of damage. Im feeling really sorry for myself n defo thinking I shouldnt have done this. Feel like crying my eyes out.
Also the clinic provided me with a chest strap, but my surgeon said not to wear it. I was under hte impression that if you have partials then the strap is supposed to help keep the plants in place.

Ohhhhh hun
Have you been taking your pain relief regularly?? The was one of the things that was really highlighted to me, and even now, I still feel like if I get a bit lax and let it slip by a few hours, I start to feel it! So make sure you're well medicated, first of all, as that should help with a lot of the pain and discomfort.
You're only day 2 - I know it feels like you're going to be a state forever, but it actually passes very fast. I slept almost all of day 2 and day 3. Rested heaps on day 4, but by day 5 felt like I was actually making serious improvement.
Maybe you should try applying ice to your boobs to help with the swelling? Frozen veges work as well as ice packs, so whatever you have will help.
Apart from that, just try to keep yourself as propped up as possible while you rest up as much as you can. Try and nap as much as you can, make a little nest for yourself on the couch in front of the TV if you can, and just dose off whenever you need to. Keeping plenty of water and pills close at hand!
Things will get better hun, I promise! xx

Re: Agony :'(
I second that on the pain relief. For the first few days if I got sore I took codeine is well as the iburophen and paracetamol. I also found I felt better after taking really slow gentle walks as it loosened my stiff muscles up, this might not be suitable for you if your in loads of pain though.
Your probably feeling a bit down because of the GA. Drink loads of water to flush it out.
Don't worry about the strap if your ps told you not to wear it, I have unders and I wasn't given a strap. All ps seem to have different prefered methods, just go with whatever advice they give you.
Your on the worst days of pain now, it'll get less and less from here on, I'm only a week in and everyday I'm seeing massive improvements. Sending gentle hugs your way. Hope you feel better really soon xxx

Re: Agony :'(
Oh bless you honey I'm sorry to hear you're in so much pain. Don't worry about waking up on your back, I'm sure that happens to everyone at some point and a few hours flat isn't going to damage you or your implants in any way. Did the surgeon say when you should start using your strap? Or is he wanting to see you at your first check up and see how the swelling is going? If you are very swollen it probably isn't so good to be tightly strapped up, I'm sure he has given you the right advice.
A nest on the sofa sounds like a perfect idea. Take some pain meds, get nice and cosy and watch some tv to distract yourself a bit, then hopefully your mind will shut off from the pain long enough to let you get some much needed sleep.
Hope you are feeling lots better soon. xx

TRy not to let it get you down babe. It does get easier and less painful I promise just rest and get someone else to look after you for a bit. Have you got some pads to cover your would so it doesn't rub on the bra as much?

Re: Agony :'(
Awww Hun this is exactly how I felt! Day 4 was my worst then things started to ease.
As for the breast strap I'm 4 weeks on and still have to wear it really high under my armpits. My ps origanally told me to wear for 2 weeks and the nurse said I could have a couple of breaks a day which I did. By week 3 my right boob was up under my armpit very swollen and very sore but I did have seroma as well. My ps sorted the seroma but then said I needed to wear strap all the time mo breaks except for quick shower and not to use my right arm at all so the implant could drop back into place. He said it could take up to 8 weeks to get into place now because I'd been doing to much.
A week later and it's loads better. My ps couldn't believe the difference. It's still not dropped like the left but it's getting there and the pains loads better. So hang in there huni you'll get there just give your ps a call and check about that strap. Xx

Re: Agony :'(
Thanks for all your replys... made me cry..god what is wrong with me???? Im an emotional wreck!!!!
I am on co-codamal at the mo, but I think Im suppose to stop taking them today as it says on the box not to take for more than 3 days!! So I dont know what pain killers to switch to next...maybe try the ibruphen n paracetmol (spelling terrible I know lol)
I have phoned the clinic n the nurse said to come in at 11 today so she can take a look at me n put my mind at rest. So I will see what she says then, Im also going to mention the breast strap as well.
Ive got some ice packs in the freezer, so when I get back from my app Im going to them out, n see if that helps.

I was an emotional wreck too! I cried when I saw my cat had an abcess, when I saw my before and after pictures, when we watched blue planet and the killer whales killed a seal pup so basically anything! It's the GA, it'll pass soon. Anyway i think its healthy to have a cry now and then, dont feel bad about letting it out!
Good luck at your appointment, at least it'll give you peace of mind. Ask her about the pain killers, maybe they can give you something different if you can't have any more co-codamal? (I can't spell either) xxx

oh hon,
You poor thing, I hope they can give you some good advice at the clinic. My first night in bed I woke up flat on my back - it was agony, Maybe they will give you stronger painkillers today.
Rest up and take care xxx

Re: Agony :'(
GOod luck at the appointment. I am sure they will say its ok and normal. I also cried... but not til day 7 when I was allowed my first shower without keeping the bra on. IT was such a strange sensation having lumps on on chest and these long wounds.. it freaked me out what I had done.... for about 20 minutes and then I just thought.... but now you have boobs so who cares about a few weeks of discomfort!. JUst think its all worth it in the long run.

Re: Agony :'(
Clairebear, I really feel for you. Nobody wants to feel this way and I know when you feel like this, you sometimes have the feeling that it will never get better, that you would rather die that feel like this. But as you know, no woman in her right mind would have gone thru this if the pain was ever present, so IT WILL GO AWAY. Time heals all wounds.
Good luck with the recovery, tomorrow I'm joining you, so we'll be depressed together.lol

Re: Agony :'(
Hi everyone
I went to my app this morning she said they are fine ive got swelling in all the right places, and that both boobs look quite symetrical which is a good sign, the only thing she is concerned about is between my boobs I have got really bad swelling and brusing, the bruising like a long thick line from just under my neck right down to the bottom of my boobs, its really sore to the touch too. She took some photos of it and has emailed them over to my surgeon. He is in clinic tomorrow so I have got an app to see him tomorrow night. So hopefully my mind will be put at rest tomorrow night. I have just sat on my backside the whole time today im doing NOTHING!!!! I swear these surgeons fling you round the theatre by your feet while your asleep, I feel Ive gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson!!!
Oh n as I am typing this Im getting some very strange vibration type feelings inside my left boob think it may be the air - what a strange feeling!!!
Thanks for all your advice and well wishes girls, your the best!!

Re: Agony :'(
Yes! The vibrations are so strange, you just wait for the farting noises!
I had a small bruise on my arm, near my collarbone just by my armpit. They need to be quite firm to create space for the implant so sometimes bruising occurs in weird places.
Hope you feel a bit better, keep up with your meds, drink lots of water to flush the GA out of your system and rest up lots. You'll feel better soon xx

Re: Agony :'(
Hi Clairbear -
I can't even tell you how normal any of this is. The pain sounds pretty awful, but it will pass probably by day 4 or 5. The pain when you wake up in the morning ("morning boob") unfortunately lasts a bit longer, several weeks - I've just noticed that I wake up ok now and I'm at 4.5 weeks. But I still have "sunburned boobie" feelings and INCREDIBLY sore nipples. Everyone has it different but everyone has some level of pain. My ribs still feel bruised!!
It will get better hun, let us know what your PS says about the bruising!

Were only on day 2 so have a long way to go but i'm sure you'll look back and think it was all worth it. I can't see much bruising at the minute on me but i do have a massive bruise under my arm near my armpit very strange lol xxx

Good luck honey, that agonizing feeling will soon pass and then just think of how happy you will be with your newbies :). Pain is beauty, in my opinion. Just remember to relax and take your pain meds on a regular basis. Also, if they feel sunburned or like they're on fire, have someone get you some frozen pees, or cold compresses to put on top of your chest. That helps a lot too!
Love to you dear. This will pass with time, just know that :) <3

Hi Claire I understand how your feeling I am starting to come around a little six days post op I have had very bad pain and nausea and have regretted the op but am starting to feel better. I too have had the vibrations and they are very strange. I am worried as all the pain is in my right boob which has dropped but my left is bigger and much higher I am hoping this won't be a problem. Hope you feel better soon xx
