5 days post op and in agony - please help
Hi - I really need some encouragement.
I had 410 unders and I have been in so much pain even breathing is hard and painful. I can barely move and getting in and out of bed is still only just possible. I have been setting myself up to get to day 5 as that is when most people on here said things started to get better for them - but it's not getting better for me at all and now I'm starting to worry and feel depressed with this pain.
I am currently taking 150mg tramadol every 6 hours and 6mg diazapam.
I know we all heal at different rates but I've always been told I have a high pain threshold so wasn't expecting it to be this bad. Will things start to get easier soon? I so worried as partner goes back to work on wednesday and I have a 7yr old and a 9 month baby.
Anyone been through similar then got better after day 5?
Thanks ladies - sorry for being a whimp!

It's DEFINATELY going to get better Meemoo
I generally have a very high pain threshold babe and my 1st BA I was up and about at day 3, no problem at all and had heard numerous times that re-ops were much less of a deal than an initial BA, so was prepared for the same as my 1st BA, if not better.... well that didn't happen...
It took me 2 weeks to get over my re-op Meemoo and really knocked me sideways, so it's not just differing persons pain thresholds that matter, it's also the fact that your surgeon may have had a tighter muscles to work with making the surgery more invasive than for you, than for someone else, just as my surgery turned out to be more invasive than another persons re-op.
What you need to know now babes is that you WILL be OK, don't follow other peoples healing, just concentrate on your own and take things a day at a time. I know sometimes you don't feel like getting up because it may feel too uncomfortable, but do try and get yourself up and about and straightening yourself up lovely. You're definately not alone and myself and many, many, other women go through a much longer recovery period than one week, you should start to feel better as you start entering week 2, but please do take your recovery at it's own pace. xx

Re: 5 days post op and in agony - please help
I would say people with unders tend to have their worst days on days 4/5 and generally start to slowly ease after this period. Although everyone is different and some may feel the discomfort for longer than others. Try some ice packs, and try to relax as much as you can, the more you stress and worry, the tenser you muscles will be, you need to relax your muscles, rest your arms, keeping them by your side as much as possible, and if you are wearing a sports bra make sure it's not too tight.
Re: 5 days post op and in agony - please help
Oh Meemoo!
I've been wondering how you got on, I'm so sorry you're in so much pain xx
It does get better over time but Cookies right, you'll heal at your own pace. I wish there was something I could do to help!
Are you wearing a sports bra? Misf1 says be careful it's not too tight and I agree as I was braless for the first week and felt ok after a couple of days, then when I put on a bra and it started digging in I felt so uncomfortable and in pain it was like the first couple of days all over again.
Sending you massive hugs xxxxx
How are the boobies?

I had overs and I've been told unders are so much more painful so I really do sympathise with you!
It DOES get better though, you have to remember that it was still an operation you went through, and some people will recover much quicker/slower than others! Just make sure you get as much rest as possible to help speed things along!
Also try ice packs on your boobs (through your clothes not on direct skin) and heat packs on your back... I think these did more for easing pain and discomfort than any of the pain meds! And I don't think I'd have made it without, I probably used ice packs more than I should have... I'd put one on about an hour before I planned on getting up and would pretty much be putting a fresh one on throughout the day! It did help so much though!
One day soon you'll wake up and it won't be as bad, and it will continue to get easier until you're literally having to honk one of them to check it wasnt your imagination Xx

Re: 5 days post op and in agony - please help
Hi Meemoo, so sorry you are suffering hun. I had a re op 6 weeks ago and was shocked at how much pain I was in as my 1st one was not too bad. This time everything was so much harder to do and I was in a lot of pain. Our lovely Cookie put my mind at rest and explained it was quite normal as I had a capsulectomy aswell and so it would take a bit longer to recover, just knowing it was normal made me feel better, and what Cookie has said to you will be right.Take care hun xx

Re: 5 days post op and in agony - please help
HI Altw,
I'd go through the roof if they got honked right now I can't imagined them ever being touched again at the mo!
I've not been using much ice as I've been stuck in my bedroom - I'm going to take your advice tho and try and make it to the kitchen and get some.
I'd do anything to wake up tomorrow with out this intense pain.
Thanks x x

Ice will be your best buddy! lol. You'll really feel the benefit from the ice pack layed across the top of your boobs, I couldn't have got through my recovery without icepacks. xx
Re: 5 days post op and in agony - please help
I've been in bed since yesterday so going to head downstairs to the kitchen to get some rescue ice. The ice packs I've got don't tend to stay cold for more than 20mins - can anyone recommend some please x

Hey Silfyfa
How lovely to see you on here - this is where i spend most of my time now, it's a much better site. Check out the videos on here - there is one called the stages of healing which you will find really helpful for when you have your BAon the 3rd July x x x x

I was given mine from the hospital, but I've heard someone say here that they got theirs from Wilkinsons and they were very good. xx

Hope you feeling better soon hun
I will be in the same boat soon, once I decide on a surgeon, and I have a low pain threshold so I dont even want to think of the pain yet
Just think a couple more days, and it will all be forgotten

My bra doesn't feel over tight as I got an extra wide band - but does anyone know if it's ok to take it off and this horrible chest binder for a bit or do the implants need as much firm support as possible 24/7

You need to keep it on Meemoo. If it's irritating you anywhere, just pad it out with panty liners/sanitary towels or cotton wool wadding. I know it's uncomfortable but the reason you're wearing is because you're surgeon wants complete stability for your breasts right now. xx
Re: 5 days post op and in agony - please help
Sorry to hear you are suffering hun xx I hope it eases off tomorrow x
Frozen peas or chips will do  you don't need special cool packs, just something cool x
Just get as much rest as you can and keep on top of your pain killers xx

Send someone to Wilkos! I have first aid reusable heat/ice packs and they were £1-2 each! You either pop them in the microwave or freezer! I bought two so when one defrosted I'd pop it back in the freezer and get a fresh one... Or heat one for my back! They really do work wonders though!x

Re: 5 days post op and in agony - please help
So sorry to hear you're suffering!! I was in a lot of pain on one breast on day 3/4 which settled (I had overs) soon after.
I dont have a high pain threshold unfortunately so Im a bad patient! All I know is that when you're in that amount of pain, it feels like its never going to end and as you've been assured by the girls with similar experiences, it WILL get better!!
Just have a look at my post about how good I feel and Im still early days lol!!
Why dont you speak to your clinic if the pain persists because based on what you've said (150mg Tram 6 hourly and diazepam) you can have more than this ie co-codamol or an anti-inflammatory like brufen or diclofenac - which tend not to be so strong in terms of drowsiness etc. Obviously your pain medication needs to be as per your surgeon and clinic, so only take whats prescribed. Just thought it might be an idea to have some sort of extra just for this short term period whilst your in agony??
Hope you feel better soon honey xx

Sorry to hear about this babe, but I promise it gets easier! However, if you experience any sudden, increase in pain with increased swelling, do give your clinic a call xx
