them - as in the strips? I think Boots sell silicone strips for burns and scars.

It'll feel icky for a while. The bump and hardness are normal, and by massaging them you help breakdown the formation of scar tissue. Just wait until your cuts are sealed though. I did this with my c-section scars, and it really helped. Though I still need it revised for other reasons, but that's because they did a crap job to begin with :/
