Your PS will advise when you can put anything on your scars, this is because if the wounds are still open you are still suceptable to infection.

I agree, don't use anything until your next appointment when you can ask when it's safe for you. It's usually 4 to 6 weeks. But like the otehrs have said you have to make sure the doctor approves it and your wounds are completely closed to prevent infections.

They will look red for a few months I believe, as that's they way they look when they heal. I was advised to wear a strip of micropore tape on my scars for at least 6 weeks, as it helps them mature faster. You should ask your surgeon about that. It's proven in trials to speed up maturation of scar.

It is normal for the scar to still be red, infact as they heal they will get more red before they start to fade... I believe it has to do with the blood flow to the area to provide all those healing cells, once the wound it totally healed it will start to fade.

I have steri strips on mine as from today and have to wear them for the next 3wk. After 4wk i'm allowed 2 use E45 - my surgeon apparently doesn't like bio oil but the nurse said that im healin well so probably don't need anythin on them. So as the others have said check with ur PS or nurse xx

I had my plaster things taken off a week after my BA and they were replaced with strips but the nurse told me to only leave them on for 3 days shrug x

It's ok hun, we're all told to do different things, my plasters were on for 14 days and then I was told to put nothing on them until 6 weeks post op, when I was allowed to massage the scar with bio oil
