Bruising & Old Blood
Well after a great start to new boobs, my left boob is now v badly bruised and is holding a lot of old blood. I've been advised this will expel itself at some point and to expect a gush, nice ! Thankfully it is not infected, all padded up and I am taking anti-biotics as a pre caution. Anyone else experienced this at all ?
The clinic have been amazing, I am going back every 3 days for check ups and re-dressings and my PS sees me every time I'm there. Brilliant service and attention.

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Glad to hear you have decent aftercare, but sorry to hear about the bruising and blood.
Fingers crossed it rights itself soon and that you aren't in any pain. xx

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Thanks girls for the best wishes, I'm in no pain at all and haven't had drains. Just so annoying as I feel great.
The right and left don't look different, just one is more bruised than the other. Hope the 'gush' comes soon which should mean the bruising will start to subside.
I'm so pleased I live 10 mins from the hospital, god knows what I would have done had it been hours away.

What does he mean you'll getter a "Gush"?Will this rip your incisions?I'm worried about you even though your not in pain. And I agree with the other girls, thank goodness you have good after care and are close to the hospital! One good reason to try to have your surgery close to home if possible. You just never know what complications may come about.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that I'm post op, but I really worry about things like this because I'm such a slow healer! Glad you've had great aftercare, where did you go? And who is your ps?

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
I know, 'gush' sounds dramatic doesn't it !! That's what the nurse described it as but nothing so far. Apparently old blood can collect where there is bad bruising and your body needs to get rid of it so will come out of the incision but shouldn't tear it. I'm kind of thinking it must be like a spot or ulcer that will eventually burst and heal. I didn't ask to see it but will on Friday. No pain tho, weird.
Hi zoe, I'm in Edinburgh and surgeon is Mr Quaba at Spire, fantastic reputation in Scotland. What are you having done ? x

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Girls, good news it that were no infection and the bruising on leftie has gone down alot since last weekend, still pretty yellow tho. Bad news is that one v small part of the anchor incision is oozing old blood so need to keep a close eye on it until it stops. Trying to be calm about it but its not nice to see it continue to bleed when you want to be on the road to recovery. Anyway neither PS or nurse seem concerned and it won't affect the long term healing process so just got to trust them.
Wost thing is moving into sports bras now after support vests for 3 weeks, so not comfy !

I bet it will heal just fine!It is scary to have it bleed out.I went through that when I split my left horizontal incision.I was sure the scar would be huge and horrific looking but it healed and blends right in with the original incision line now.I'm so sorry you have had this extra stress though.I wish you well Hun.keep your spirits up and think positive thoughts!

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Thanks E-K, I will do and its great to know that yours have healed just fine. What's going through my mind now is that my nipple line is low and would have expected them to sit higher up my chest. I can tell the plant still has lots to go to drop into place so do you think they will rise once settled ?
I'll ask my PS on Wednesday as I am back again for a check up and want to get it logged even tho its an early stage. I' really happy with the size and shape already , just the linement of the nipple that is bothering me. x

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
My doctor told me that as they drop the areola complex will move up slightly. My right one looks good but my left one is still to high and its to low.I guess we both have the same problem.UGH! I hate it.It looks so odd in sun dresses. One boob is up and one is down....
I go on the 5th this week.I tried to get in last week but they were to busy.We will have to compare notes after our appointments :)

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Hey Bolly,
Glad to hear your follow-up appointment went well and that this won't affect your long-term healing. It's good to know you're going again on Wednesday for another check-up.
Were you expecting the blood to come from the anchor incision or somewhere else? Is this the gush that you were told to expect?
As for your nipple line, has this got something to do with the extra swelling and bruising you've had on that boob?
Anyhow, sending good healing vibes your way and keep on keeping us posted on your progress!!
MF x x x
p.s.
By the way, what's the difference between a support vest and a sports bra?

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
E-K, lets hope for good advice for us both this week from our PS's. I am sure i will be told to wait it out but I'd rather discuss now to make sure he is aware.
Hi MF, yes it was from one spot half way down the anchor incision on left side but rather than a gush it has been more like a slow ooze ! It is still there a little each day but getting less and less as the bruising is going down. Its good to notice these things as shows improvement daily. I think leftie might be to do with swelling / bruising yes, hope so !
Support vests are lightweight tops that have elastic bra support in them rather than full blown sports bras. have to say they were so comfortable for first 3 weeks compared to what i am wearing now but thats life for a bit ha ha xx

Hahaha! Just been looking at sports bras tonight on the web. They're soooo sexy!!
Seriously though, if it's gonna improve the bruising etc, it has to be worth it.
Stick with it girlie. Good things come to those who wait. x x x

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Hi lookoutgirl, yes that left one is still high.I wonder if my lifting weights previous to surgery is the cause of it dropping so slow?I don't have huge muscles but I do workout 45 to 60 minutes 7 days a week.So I'm definately toned.I have to ask when I see her this week. They called me today and have given me extra time with her as well.I told them we really need to talk one more time about this situation. My hope is to not have to pay for the re-op at al.But that is wishful thinking on my part...

Hope your discussion goes well on Friday and she agrees to help you. Your leftie looks great in the avatar by the way. Are you back to full exercise workouts now ? I can't wait to get back to it, feel sluggish at the moment.
Lookoutgirl, love the avator, I asked on the other post, but what make of bra is that you are wearing ?

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Emme-Kate, how did today's consult go with PS, any joys ?
My check up was good, bruising nearly gone although one small area to go. Down to minimal dressings now and have to start massage / bio oil which is great. Feel like i am moving forward.
On my concerns, PS agrees leftie is lower but thinks this may be due to swelling and higher implant right now. They are going to continue to monitor over next 2 months then take a view on it. I feel confident that if I wasn't happy with final result he would do something about it. Whether that woulld be free , who knows !
Nurse gave good advice which is to try not to over analyse it at this stage, its too early and just focus on getting into full recovery mode. Sound advice at this stage I thought ? x

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Hi bollydoly!
That is sound advice! It takes a long times to heal after the lift and she is right about waiting a while to see how things turn out for you.I had swelling almost this whole time and this week I finally started to notice that my lefty is looking so much more like the right one.FINALLY!LOL!So I bet your will change to.How do your incisions look today Hun?
My appointment went really well today.I was there for over 45 minutes going over everything.I will post a new topic for it.

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Incisions are neat looking but quite pink on the nipple/anchor and left anchor needs more healing in the little spot where the oozing was. But all in all, seems ok for 4 weeks post op. Started massage and bio oil now daily and i have been advised to put tape on them for 5 days and then off for 5 days so will see how that goes over next few weeks.
How are yours healing? look forward to read your update, glad to hear you got a decent enough of time with them.

Re: Bruising & Old Blood
Hey Bolly,
Sounds like you're doing really well. You've definitely been given some sound advice from the nurse about just allowing yourself to recover without too much over-analysing of your boobs.
We all know it takes a while for things to settle, but that impatience has a habit of kicking in now and again. I know for a fact that I'll be exactly the same after my surgery myself!
How are the sports bras feeling?
