Option of overs or unders? Empty Option of overs or unders?

Post by teddy73 11th July 2011, 1:30 pm

Just wondering were you all given the option to have overs or unders? The more I read on here the more I think I want overs. I didnt even realise there was an option (not-a-mind partials!!). In my consultation my doc just said that will do unders, but didnt tell me if they'd be high, or low etc. etc. Apologies, trying to get used to all this new lingo! I'm presuming I'll have a second consultation with the doc before the surgery?

Well when I went to my 2nd consultation we decided on a size, and then he said 'right now we need to consider whether we will go under or over the muscle' then he squeezed by skin to check the elasticity and stuff and said I would benefit from unders. I told him I wanted a natural look, and he said 'yeh unders will be better for you' and explained why. So I guess I sort-of had a choice, but was gently guided in the right direction xxx

Normally it is the surgeon who decides whether you should have overs or unders due to your body/breast type and style you are wanting (bigger or smaller, natural or fake looking), but sometimes you do get the choice. x

hey hun it all depends on how much breast tissue you have if they dont think you have a sufficiant amount so that the implant isnt visable they will advise 'unders' sometimes thats the best way being told, ive got my BA in 21 days and ive been given both options and im still undecided haha x

I had the choice, he asked me which I'd prefer, I've always been set on unders!

I was a small 34B (if that) after losing my boobs to breastfeeding & was scared of ending up with that stuck on look that Victoria Beckham was sporting for so long!! haha Xx

i told my surgeon what look i wanted, and he sugggested partials. I kind of wish i had unders now, as i was quite saggy pre ba and now may need a re op due to db. If i had had overs, i may not have had that result. x

Im going for overs. was always set on unders because i have small boobs at the minute. but apparently i have enough tissue so wont look real fake (want them pretty natural looking) i know recovery time is less as well which im happy with! just wana see the final look. i have no visual in my head what they are going to look like...

Jen - do you mean you wish u ad overs??

When surgeons talk about unders they mean partial unders don't they? Rather than full unders which are normally only used for reconstructions? It's so confusin!! My surgeon said that I will need unders (i'm assumin partial unders) as overs would be 2 visible so I didn't get a choice.

Hello, at my consultation I wasn't really given a choice...I'm going with partial unders...One of the main advantages of going under or partially under the muscle is that there tends to be less interference when it comes to getting a mammogram. Additionally, there may be a slightly lower chance of capsular contracture if you go under...I think it has to do with the fact that the implant itself is further away from the milk duct (where bacteria can get in). That's the theory, anyway.

Pros for overs...they're more jiggly!!!

I wasn't clued up at all before the op on the under/over topic and what the implications were on them both. My PS decided in surgery what was best for me and he went in with an open mind. Apparently some surgeons favour one or the other.

I have to say I'm glad I didn't have a strong view either way so that I wasn't disappointed if it didn't happen. And I'm happy (so far) with what I have been given ! Option of overs or unders? 184153

I wanted overs and luckly was able to have overs aswell. My surgeon mr singh told me that having unders and such a large implant wasn't a good idea anyway as the muscles would take longer to repair ect. It all depands on your breast tissue though and the look you want to achieve. I have to be honest and say I kinda wanted the fake look. x
