Stitches Out Tomorrow & Depressed
I am having my stitches out tomorrow (day 12 post op) and I am dreading it. I cannot imagine how my PS is going to get the tape off me let alone get the stitches out!
I vaguely remember him telling me that there was a single chord that I shouldn't touch as it was a link to the inside stitches that he would just pull out - and the prospect of that makes my stomach churn.
On top of this, I am feeling really down in the dumps. I am so tired of the discomfort (it isn't pain anymore thankfully) and now that I am back at work, I feel so tired and emotional.
Today I noticed that one boob looks bigger than the other which worried me, even though I know they change shape loads before they settle down.
I think I am just fed up that even though I feel so odd and uncomfortable, my life is expected to get back to normal....does that make sense?
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks girls.

Hi star2angel,
Sorry to hear you've been feeling down and know how you feel, it can seem forever for them to start looking normal and feeling really part of you.
I had dissolving stitches but was still nervous about having the tape taken off. But you'll be surprised how quickly that softens and peels away when it is wet. And, I don't know about you, but things were still pretty numb around there for me, so I'm sure there won't be any pain involved - just a quick couple of moments of discomfort. But do also make sure you say how nervous you are and I'm sure your PS or nurse will do things as gently as you need.
Feeling down is also part of it unfortunately, especially when it coincides with PMT - like it did for me. I really wanted to get back to normal as quickly as possible, but found things got much better within three weeks, especially once the tape was off! Remember your body has a huge amount of repairing and adjusting to do.
So hang in there and try not to worry too much. Maybe plan a treat for yourself after tomorrow's appointment to keep your spirits up and give you something to look forward to? I did a bit of shopping to see how well my new boobies filled out some pretty clothes!

Re: Stitches Out Tomorrow & Depressed
Aww sorry to hear your feeling so rubbish :(
Im yet to have my stitches out as well, i had the paper ones taken off saturday, although they were gunky, i didnt feel them coming off, she had a bit of trouble taken them off, as they were kind of stuck... yuck!!
I have a blue thred kind of stich that goes all the way over the scar, must go in side to??
You will be fine, once they are out you should feel alot better, it just takes time.
Oh kookie where did you get that bra? it looks so comfy, im so fed up of these stupid bras, they dig in, and feel tight where the stitches are, my nipples are so sore, if i touch my boobs it feels like pins and needles, hope this passes soon.
xx

Re: Stitches Out Tomorrow & Depressed
I found a link to the bra I mentioned,
although I think they also do bigger sizes in their stores too:

Like I said to star2angel, most of the worst discomfort eases around the 2-3 week mark, so I'm sure both of you will start really enjoying your new boobies soon!

You should start to feel a bit more like yourself soon hun, around 2-3 weeks as others have said. As for the stitches, I had mine removed and it was easy, a slight pull and they are out, you dont really feel it. My one stung a little but it was nothing. You'll be fine.
