Confused about bra sizing...
Hello everyone!
I am currently 10 weeks postop and was wondering how you ladies like your bras to fit you. I just bought a few VS bras and one person told me I was a 34dd and another 36d. The 36d feels very loose around the ribcage and the straps feel like they will slip. Now I was told this is why straps slip is because the band size is too small and that I needed to go up a band size. I feel the best in the 34dd. I feel like I am held in place and supported. I also went to a specialty lingerie shop and was told at that time I was a 34 band. I also tried a 34C, 34D, 34DD, 36C, and 36D and out of all these sizes, I feel the best in the 34DD, but it fits my ribcage snugly and holds my girls into place nicely, but not too tight. Now I am confused more than ever....any thoughts anyone?

Re: Confused about bra sizing...
they always tell me i can wear a 34 band size but i always have to hook them on the tightest hook and then they stretch out and dont fit after a while..and actually ive noticed if i wear a band size too large the straps are placed too far out and they slip off.. either measure yourself or wear what you are comfortable in.. i can wear almost any size bra depending on how it is made so i dont really pay much attention to way they tell me i should wear :P

Re: Confused about bra sizing...
basically, if u find your the most comfortable in a 34dd, then stick to it!! i always try lots of bras on in different sizes to discover mine, and im yet to be wrong!!! everytime ive gone to check at a bra fitters, they always say my bra i already hav on fits perfectly. Trial and error, sounds to me that the 34dd is the perfect one x

Re: Confused about bra sizing...
Alot of people think breast support comes from the straps and adjust the straps to support the bust, this is wrong, the band of the bra is what is going to give you all of your support babe not the straps, so you must ensure that the band is on the loosest hook to allow for strtching over time and ensure that it sits straight and very snuggly around the ribs allowing just two fingers to move under the band comfortably, the centre front should sit flat against the chest and not lift away and there should be no spillage or gaping from the cup, your breast should just sit nice and snuggly in the cups.
I'd actually complain about the fitter in Victoria Secrets who put you in a 36 band babe, that's ridiculous! and I'm sure they'd appreciate knowing one of their staff is badly fitting women, they have a very good reputation to uphold and this isn't good for them at all.
They'll probably then offer you another fitting with someone that actually knows what they're doing sweetheart, it's so important when you get your new boobs to then take care of them and giving them support is priority.
Hope you find your perfect bras babe. xx

Re: Confused about bra sizing...
Thanks so much for all your replies! I am getting frustrated since everytime I go into VS, they are telling me differently. The person that says I need a 36 band brags about how she has a degree in fashion and has done this for so long and that she is the only one at VS that really knows what she is doing.....(Really?!!!) The 36 is so loose even on the tightest hooks that I said to her I thought you were suppose to start out on the first hooks so that you could move them as the bra stretches out. She replied telling me that if you have the correct size band and wash your bras correctly, they should never stretch out. She is a total nut case! I graciously thanked her for her help (actually no help to me:) And then I continued to buy the 34dd because it felt the best.
Thanks again for all your help ladies! Like Cookie said, I want to take care of my investment and make sure I have the proper support

I think you summed her up quite well LOL.
Glad you've found the comfort and support from the bra you're wearing that you need babe.
Re: Confused about bra sizing...
she sounds crazy!! so what if she did fashion...so did i! and i bet i cud fit you way better then her...whats fashion got to do with it?! if i was you, i would have said that the 36 band was waaaay too loose and made a remark about getting fitted somewhere else. Pathetic! xx
