Silicone Gel rupture
Just wondering I know that if a saline implant ruptures it deflates but how do you know if a silicone one ruptures especially if the gel stays intact??xxxxx
Re: Silicone Gel rupture
With silicone, it's possible for you to have a rupture and have no symptoms at all, they may go undetected and may only be detected say if you had to have a scan done to the chest for other reasons and this was spotted this way - These ruptures with no symptoms are called 'silent ruptures'
If you do have symtoms, there are quite a few and you may experience one or quite a few, I should imagine this would be due to how your body reacts when it detects the rupture.
My rupture was found when I noticed I had a lump under my armpit, this went on to two lumps and my GP sent me for further testing, I had a CT scan done and whilst waiting for the results, within a 2 week period, I got raised lymph nodes under my other armpit too and my breast began to swell, it distorted to twice the size of my other breast.
As I have an auto-immune disorder my GP at first thought the lymph nodes might be caused by this, it turned out my body was reacting to a ruptured implant.
If anyone does suspect a rupture, the ONLY way for this to be confirmed is through having the breast scanned. xx

Re: Silicone Gel rupture
my PS said that I will have to have breast MRI before my surgery and 3 years after and then 2 years after that for the rest of my life
that way they can see if any problems occured
