Question about swelling?!
Hi Ladys, (this is kinda long so i apologize in advance)
I am a bit worried and i wanted to see if any of you have had this happen to you..
I am 2 days Post-Op today and today when i woke up from a long sleep my boobs had swollen at least 3xs in size !! they are super sore and huge now which im sure is from the swelling!
Has this happened to any of you girls? is this a normal step in boobie recovery?
It also feels like my implants have moved up higher in towards my armpits :tears:
They feel a like they weigh a ton now and its hard to breath.. im wrapped up and strapped up pretty tightly so i was thinking maybe thats why its so hard for me to breath and thats why they feel so heavy

Re: Question about swelling?!
Hi aimeencb ~ I know I experienced a LOT of swelling in the first days post-op. The swelling was severe and got worse before it got better. At my one-week post-op, my surgeon said that even though it had visibly gone down, it was still swollen (even on the rib bones between the breast, which I hadn't even noticed). My implants were also still high at that one week - also normal.
Follow your post-op instructions including drinking plenty of water, sleeping propped-up and using frozen vegetables (I used peas, a lovely lady on this forum suggested raspberries as they smell nice) and taking any medications or supplements your dr prescribed (Arnica Montana worked wonders for me). Again, follow YOUR post-op instructions (I keep talking about my own experiences on the threads just to SHARE, I'm glad one of the other ladies pointed out we should not subsititute another's post-op instructions for our own). Call your surgeon if something seems wrong, just to reassure yourself. But you do sound perfectly normal. Try to rest and pamper yourself sweetness. Xxxxx

Re: Question about swelling?!
PS ~ right after waking up is the WORST of all the swelling, some of the ladies call it "morning boob," if that helps. :)

I had that too. They would take spells where they would be huge.

Thanks lady's for sharing!
I also have swelling right under my dressings in my sturnum area.. It looks weird! Its like a long fluid bubble roll that runs along the bottom of my boobs..it's pretty nasty! Sorry for the TMI..

Re: Question about swelling?!
Aimeencb, I don't know about the bit of swelling "fluid bubble" but maybe someone else here has experienced something simliar. If not, and you think it looks unusual, maybe put in a call to your clinic? I am sure everything is fine, there is so much swelling in i the inital stages.
It was very hard for me to breathe at first, and at times the implants felt so heavy I thought something was wrong. In time that has eased up.... I don't know if my muscles are supporting them now, or I have gotten used to them, or if the swelling was causing more constriction (or all of the above) but it did ease. So hang in there. Xxxxx

Re: Question about swelling?!
Awww it's very normal hunni, 'usually' but not always the swelling is at it's worst on day 3/4. The swelling on your sternum is also completely normal too. Don't worry hun, you're healing just as you should be.
Try using ice packs (you can use a bag of frozen peas or rice wrapped in a towel if you dont have any) and placing them over the tops of your boobs, this will help with the swelling and also ease that pressure feeling you get, especially first thing in the morning.
So it's all good sweetness, you're doing just fine. xx
