I do believe the Dermitix is very good, I haven't used that particular brand myself, I have however used the Cica-Care silicone scar sheets and found them to be very effective in helping with my scarring. xx

Cookie ~ When did you start with scar sheets? My steri-strips are gone and I am a little scared of my scars.... nope They are nice and neat and look way too small for an implant (surgeon was amazing) but still, they look scary. I didn't ask my PS at my post op appointments.

At 6 weeks post-op I was given the all clear to use Bio-Oil, then at 12 weeks post-op I was given the all clear to use the silicone sheets.

Like with ANYTHING you are intending to use on your scarring, be sure to check it with your own clinic that it's OK to use on YOU, your clinic will know what's best for your care to get the best from your recovery. xx

Thanks for the info cookie - I will ask my PS. You are right, we should always follow what our surgeon tells us ~ I am glad you pointed that out. So many different factors come into play since we are all different and so our our procedures, so only our clinic does know how to advise us best. But still, it helps to be able to hear from ladies like you who've been through it..... And to know what helped you. At least now I can look at (or avoid looking at, haha) them for another three weeks knowing I am not the only one who had to wait to try doing anything for them! (Smile) Thanks Lovely.

I use silicone sheets on my scars and do think they help reduce the size and color of the scars. x

dermatix Silicone Gel Scar Sheets Empty Re: dermatix Silicone Gel Scar Sheets

Post by lisalisa 3rd April 2011, 12:02 pm

As I am asian and more prone to scarring than most people so I've been told to use the silicon sheets at 2 and a half weeks, 4hrs 1st 2 days, 8 hrs 3rd and 4th day and building up to 20 hrs a day from day 10 for 8 weeks. He's given me some cream on top of that while I massage the scars to manage the discolouration as well.

So I think it may be best to ask you surgeon how to use the silicon gel sheets.

Glad i found this thread - i've been wondering the same thing.
However there are 2 types - the clear ones and the fabric backed ones - what have people used or found to be the best ones?

Thanks

Silicone sheets helps to flatten and fade the scarring sweetie, if you do have darker skin then you might very well get a lot of benefit from using the silicone sheets hun, be sure to ask your clinic nurse if it would be OK for you to start using them first though babe. xx

I'm also learning something new everytime I log onto this forum - I am another one who has never heard of these silicone sheets, I will make sure I ask (when the time is right) if they would be beneficial for me to use.

Cookie can you let us know where we purchase them from please?

Girls I need to buy these as my nurse said their good to use. But I can only find them on amazon and I'm always a bit paranoid with things like that incase they are fake and do more damage. Does anyone recommend anywhere?

Ahhh flojo- good luck with ur BA- I also had Mr Khan :-)

hello Ladies

You can get them on Ebay, but i have found this scar serum at a fraction of the price and it is working really well, my nurse today said they are healing really well and i can continue to use along with a gentle massage on the scars circular movement for 10 seconds every morning and evening...

'Boots Scar Reduction Serum' white and cream bottle about £7.00 ish my surgeon recommended it saying it works just as well as the silicon and is a fraction of the price.

I tried these, they're no were near the standard of Cica-Care or Dermatix, they're more like a really thick silicone that constantly falls off and you can't re-use these either like you can with Cica-Care or Dermitix, so in the long run you actually save money speding that little bit more for the better stuff babe.

You can buy Dermatix or Cica-Care (these are the ones I used) from any chemist, if they don't stock them you can always do as I did as request they order them in for you. xx

LOL, it's hard getting your fitness level back after the surgery isn't it... I just had to take my time and build back up slowly, it is frustrating but you'll get there in the end. xx
