Hey everyone,

Sorry for late post, but just come back from circuit training am shattered and was driving home thinking about the fact that I could be booking my surgery tomorrow at MYA after seeing Mr Singh again. I remember reading on an earlier thread, cant seem to find it at the mo, but am very very anxious about the general anasthetic. After watching that silly film 'Awake' i am scared that I will wake up or feel them cutting in to me. I know you must think I am being absolutely ridiculous but the thought really scares me :pale: :pale: !!!!! That I am actually contemplating whether I should really get it done. Dont get me wrong I really really want new boobies more than you can imagine but booking it tomo makes it so final and I am going to worry right up until after Iv come out of surgery lol

I had 2 endosocopies and colonoscopies in the past, both of which I was supposed to be heavily sedated however the first endoscopy I had I woke up during and was gagging on the tube badly and couldnt breate and could only hear all the people including the consulatant saying 'oh no shes woken up' such a horrid experience and the second colonscopy I woke up also to complete agony of having a camera up my Bum Wiggle lol sorry if its an overshare he he

Anyway these experiences dont help lol and am so worried it could happen again I am so scared girls and really dont want to not go through with it.

I know ill prob end up crying when on the table ready to go, just going to have to beg the anathetist to knock me out good and proper Rolling Eyes Screwy

Please tell me I am being soo silly :pale:

You ARE being silly  but totally understandable! Hug
I don't know what to say to make you feel better but i can assure you that a GA is not something you can wake up from easily unlike sedation for endoscopy etc, you will be knocked out cold believe me and you will also have a pulse monitor on your finger the whole op which would detect any rise in pulse the minute your body began to 'come round' and you would be topped up with that GA quicker than the blink of your eye and you would not know a thing!! Not that it will happen.
Don't worry yourself silly over this one and definately don't cancel your BA over it, it's really not going to happen to you hunni and you will be in very safe hands xx Hug

I can understand why you're so worried!! Sorry you had those horrible experiences hun Hug You will definately be knocked out good and proper, i havent heard one story of a girl wake up but i have with sedation because it runs out if the op goes over, whereas with GA they keep topping it up or something.
You just have to stay focused and think about the end result xxx

You are not not being silly Hug Dani. It must have been a very traumatic experience for you, and now you have managed to share that experience and feelngs with your boobie sisters is a big step forward for you..well done. As the other girls say it is a completly different experience and if you cry what does it matter? I would suggest talking this through with your surgeon and the anethethist they will be more than understanding. They dont want you awake any more than you do and they will be more than happy to discuss with you I am sure. most of us have been having laughs and jokes with all the theatre staff. Take care Hug

Totally understand your feelings. I have been the same but talking to the girls on here has helped me get over my fear quite a lot. I'll always have that niggling feeling in the back of my head. But am soooo much calmer about a BA now than I was.

I'm quite looking forward to the feeling and looking forward to proving everyone right when they told me there's nothing to worry about.

Hey hun, i was the same as you!! On the day of my op the anesthatist came in and done his check and asked is there anything you would like to ask me...and i said yeh is there any chance i will wake up during the op, well he nearly peeed himself laughing at me, his reaction said it all really!!! I thought ok...he thinks im totally stupid!! hahah.
Its normal to worry especially if youve been heavily sedated for colonoscopy and endoscopy (which i also have had both and the endoscospy was horrible and i too was well aware of what was going on although i was meant to be sedated) Like SS said, GA is not like a sedation, u defo cant wake up from it, xxxxxxxx
