Back Pain Empty Back Pain

Post by clareyd 13th February 2011, 10:04 pm

Does anyone have any advice on back pain?? i'm fine during the day but everytime i get up from lying down in the morning i have a really painful sharp pain in the middle of my back... it feels like its cramping or i mite posibly just have a rele bad knot?? not sure how to make this better as i cant really lie on my front yet for a professional massage and i cant get somebody to crack my back yet as this will squash my boobs!! ive tried some Voltarol heat paches but they dont seem to have done the trick! :( i can only presume this is due to sleeping on my back in one position for the last 4 weeks!!? xxx

Oh, that sounds awful hun! Have you got a proper support pillow?? Maybe you could sleep a little more upright or try turning slightly more onto your side with lots of support underneath you?

I hope it gets better soon!

Back Pain Empty Re: Back Pain

Post by hannah766 13th February 2011, 11:40 pm

Hi claireyd

I too have been experiencing really bad back pain - I'm just over 3 weeks post op now and every morning and often during the night I wake up in a lot of pain, exactly as you have described - right in the middle of my back. After I get up and about it tends to ease but I have had to take painkillers a few times. Are you still sleeping upright? I am only sleeping with the one pilllow now, and since lying flat it has been a little better, but I still HATE lying on my back and cannot wait until I can once again curl up on my side!
I don't think you need to worry too much, I think it's just because we're lying in the same position every night. I try and keep my posture correct during the day to help strengthen the back muscles, but still being unable to do any exercise for several more weeks makes it all the more frustrating - as I'm dying to do some Yoga! (I know Yoga would normally help in our case!)
Hang in there - it won't be long and we'l be back to lying on our sides and front! :good:
All the best x

Noo I haven't still been sleeping propped up!! Managed that for 2weeks and then stopped! I've only been using one pillow now but everytime I try to sleep on my side it feels uncomfortable and I can't manage it for long!! It's probably just in my head tho that I'm going to squash them! Haha xxxx

Hi again Clare, I felt uncomfortable sleeping on my side initially (and well nigh impossible without a support bra on) - but it does get easier hun

Hi hun, it does get easier in time, I had terrible back pain even once I was allowed to lie down properly. I couldn't sleep on my side for about 6 weeks though because my boobs were really painful at the sides, but just like the back pain, it dissapeared all of a sudden!!

I hope you feel beter soon hunnie...xx
