I managed it for two weeks then I had a check up and they said I could sleep normal. I remember the back ache though. You have my sympathy.

I only managed a week, it is to help with swelling so i think when most of the swelling has gone down (1-2 weeks) you are ok to sleep normally again.

Yes, I was told just a couple of days as well - but if I could manage more, then try and do so. But after 3 days I went from 3 pillows down to 2 pillows then down to I pillow on successive nights. I didn't have any pain from the op, but the back pain was awful.

I found it really comfortable and still sleep like that! I have a pillow right at base of back to give lots of support! x

I managed a week but I remember the backache, that's for sure!!!

You could always call your clinic and ask their advice but I would imagine you'll be safe to ditch the pillows from now on.....xx

Thats nice to know everyone, thanks. Im now 11 days post op and was wondering when I could revert to my side position, although funnily enough, I am getting used to sleeping sitting upright after nights and nights of pure pain Hysterical

I've slept propped up since my BA and thankfully haven't had a problem sleeping or backache. In fact, when I tried 1 less cushion last night I didn't find it as comfy and put it back!

I have a different problem that If I slide down into a flatter position I find that I wake feeling like a small hippo is sitting on my chest - I assumed this was normal, but now wonder if it's not if all you girls were happy to lie flat again?? Is this the dreaded morning boobs feeling? Am I the only one preferring to sleep upright and how long might it last I wonder? shrug

Hi Clarey, I like your avatar! ;-)

I've been wondering this myself, because I have difficulty sleeping as it is... I wriggle loads and I tend to always end up falling asleep on my side.

Has anyone had tons of difficulty actually getting to sleep in the first place in this position?? I have one of those V-shaped pillows but can honestly say I've never even attempted to sleep upright!

hhmmm not looking forward to this part of the boob journey - i do like my sleep!

Just a quick question for clareyd - which surgeon did you have at spire hartswood? I have been to see Mark Gittos for a consultation and if he did your BA i would love to hear which implants you had and how the ba went.xx

For everyone who is worried about a bad back or is suffering due to sleeping propped up, I found a hot water bottle on the lower back really eased the ache and helped me sleep.

I'm sure you will be fine to sleep normally now - unless normal is on your front!

I wasn't told to sleep propped up at all - I did for a couple of nights as I had read on here that lots of people did, but after that my shoulder was too painful, so went back to sleeping flat - before my BA I was always a restless sleeper changing sides frequently during the night, but now I manage to sleep on my back (which I never did before), all night long.

I'm lying flat on my back now and it feels sooooo good!!! Haha thanks for the advice everyone!

Hiya Carolyn, I had mr fortune iwaguwu for my surgery! He was absolutely brilliant, very calm and patient! He advised me exactly what wud suit my frame and I'm so pleased with how it's turned out! All the nurses were lovely at hartswood too so I'd definitely recommend it! I've not heard of mark gittos but I'm sure he's a good surgeon if he's doing breast aug's regularly! I had silicone unders and the incision was underneath! It's healing so well too :-)

Yeah it all went so smoothly, I didn't have any probs at all! Touch wood! Thank u and good luck with the planning of yours!!

I slept on my back lastnight which was heaven!! But still feels a bit uncomfortable when I try to sleep on side! Is a pillow underneath ur boobs when u lie on ur side the best way to deal with this?? Xx

If you mean deep heat as in the cream to rub in, it is brilliant and I use it on my frozen shoulder, just be careful it doesn't spread too far and end up in healing scars, as it wouldn't do them any good and would be extremely painful! x
