WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? HOW MUCH PAIN?
Hi. i am seriously considering the op. but what holds me back is the fear , naturally and then the pain afterwards. i have 3 children - how much can i do? how will i feel? its different for everyone i realise but any insight is great. i am ready for pain - i am no stranger to it - 3 c-sections. so if anyone has a comparison to that, that would be helpful. thanks!

Hello and welcome to BJSF un-dd-cided (great name!) Are your children at an age where they can see to themselves?
If your children are babies hun, you're going to need help for 1 possibly 2 weeks, you will not be able to cope on your own.
It's possible you wont will be unable to do anything at all for about a week, and then after that you'd need to really take things easy until you felt strong enough, your upper body will be very weak and will need time to recover.
Painwise, well... you'll suffer more discomfort than pain hun, there is absolutely nothing to fear! You won't be in agony, everything you'll experience will be manageable, it won't be comfortable but you'll be able to cope sweetheart.
You'll need to refrain from lifting and excercise for 6 weeks after your op, but you should be able to manage with your children generally after about 2 weeks post-op.
There really is nothing at all to fear though sweetie, if you prepare and ensure the kids have someone to look after them so you can rest, you'll be just fine and can look forward to enjoying your new boobs! xx

I think cooks had put that perfectly there, I just wanted to add that from my own personal experience I had no pain what so ever and the end results make the slight discomfort sooo so worth it. Good luck on your boobie journey! xx

Hi hun, If you have a good read of the girls diaries on here you will see there is absolutely nothing to fear. It isn't pain you will experience and if you have had C-sections then this nothing in comparison, it's more discomfort and a tight feeling around the chest area. As the girls have said you really need to organise some help with the children certainly for the first week or two. The worst thing you can do is seemingly feel ok and carry on with your normal daily chores but it's not good for the healing process. You really need to take it as easy as you can initially to give your boobies the best possible start.
Take time before you make your decision because it is a biggie....but if you decide to go ahead let us know and we will do everything we can to reassure you throughout the process.
Good luck babe

I've not had children, but I would think that childbirth was much more painful. My friends had C sections and it took them longer to recover than I did after my op. I did need help afterwards but only for a week. I am a big wimp, I hate pain and I found it very easy.
Re: WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? HOW MUCH PAIN?
Just high light what the girls above have said. Really it`s just a tight sort of sunburny feeling, stiff and slightly buised feeling if you have a little touch around. I`m on day 8 and each day i can definatley do a little more. I`ve started taking the kids to school, cooking tea, washing my hair over the bath and had a little 20 min drive to see how it felt as i`ve got my 1st post op check up tomorrow. I too have had 2 c sections and they definatly were more painful. If it`s mainly pain thats stopping you dont worry it`s bareable. I`ve read, dont know if it`s true that women over 25 deal with pain a lot easier especially if you have had children too?. Good luck if you go for it xxx

pain is what Tramadol is for!! good stuff. I needed help with my daughter for best part of a week, pain wasn't that bad, i found the swelling at night to be the biggest pest. I'm sure it will be fine :good: xx

I haven't had a C section but have had a child and found it much worse recovering from giving birth than recovering from my boob job. I was in more discomfort than pain. My daughter is now 5 so didn't struggle too much with her. As long as you try to take things very easy for the first week or so, then just listen to your body, you will probably be fine. The worst thing for me was the 'morning boob' but that was only for about 30 minutes after getting up.

No real pain, just discomfort and tightness. I've had 2 children and 2 very different labors, but this is nothing compared to that. The morning after was the worst, but even then it just felt like i'd worked out too hard adn maybe like my ribs were bruised. But deffinately no where near as bad as I thought it would be

Re: WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? HOW MUCH PAIN?
Hiya. I'm 3 weeks post op with two kids, a 4 year old boy and a 5 month old girl and having my BA is the best thing I've done for myself!
I didn't have any real pain to speak of, just felt very uncomfortable. My sister came to stay with me for the first week and basically played mum for the whole time. I stopped taking painkillers after day 3 as I felt I didn't need them. Even straight after the op I wasn't in pain which was very suprising! The best way to described the sensation is to remember how it feels when your milk comes in after having a baby, the tightness and swelling and tenderness, but you get to keep your new big boobies at the end of the experience!
For me, the worst bit was waiting for the op and the hours and minutes before plonking myself on the op table! I was so unbelievably scared of the unknown. Some women find this part exciting but I found the opposite! Now, to sum it up I went from an empty 34a/b to a very happy 32/34 d or DD-I'm yet to be measured though!
As a mum my life is dedicated to my kids and 2 months ago I decided it was time to do something for myself, my confidence has been transformed, my sex life renewed (13 years we've been together!) and my new positive outlook is doing wonders in every aspect! I say to you - do your research, think it over carefully and if you decide it's for you then know we are all here to answer any questions you might have.
Good luck deciding!

Re: WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? HOW MUCH PAIN?
Hi un-dd-cided!
well my personal opinion is, that it is not painful, only mild discomfort... and they are worth every bit of discomfort!
The first week, do nothing, and slowly go back to your routine week by week... but take care of the boobies for a good 6 weeks... you will need a bit of help for the kiddies in the beginning, but the time goes so fast and before you know it you will be healed up and happy!
The whole thing for me went so much easier than I ever could have immagined, I too have kids and I battled with myself wether this was the right thing to do or not... and it was.
I didnt have c-sections but I had a horrid time breast feeding my first I had engorgement, cracked infected nipples and mastitis... and that whole experience made the BA seem like a breeze!
Good luck with your decisions!

Re: WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? HOW MUCH PAIN?
Hi un-dd-cided,
Deedee is spot on about the feeling, its just like when your milk comes in!
I have 2 children, 3yrs and 18months. Like everyone has said the first week you'll need someone to help out with pretty much everything. I had my BA a week ago, and to be honest Im finding it hard to not do too much cos I feel capable. Although I was told I shouldn't I have lift my youngest, only down from things (she's a crazy climber!), I dont think Im strong enough to lift her into her cot and I haven't even tried. So as of this second week, I need someone at home to help me put my youngest down for her nap, and my husband is always home by bedtime so thats ok. I went into town with my mum yesterday and needed help with the buggy and general carrying of baby bags. The main problem is that you feel weak. And if I try and do too much my boobs go hard, you know like when your breast feeding and you hear your baby cry - the wobwob your boobs do!
The ideal would be if you could stay somewhere else for the first week while your hubby stays home with the kids, and then have someone with you at home for the following week.
Im finding it a pain relying on other people and its so frustrating not being my normal independent self, but TOTALLY worth it already! If you plan things right you'll be fine. As everyone ha said the pain side of things is not a problem, its nothing compared to a c-sec.
Oh and another thing (I know I go on!) my 3yr old understands whats happened and is sooo gentle, how old are your kids? If they are 2 and older I would say that would be a lot easier for you in many ways as you can ask them to do more themselves. If you're worried about doing it now cos they are younger it maybe worth waiting a little while. Although for me personally I really wanted to get my BA done in time for me to be healed to start work again.
Good luck deciding!
