FRANKEINBOOBS 4days post op :-(
Hi ladies
4 days post op and feeling a bit well................. i dont know
I had read up and prepared myself for the things to look out for post op. The blues , the boob greed, the Frankeinboobs lol.
Heres how I am feeling today. My boobies are all bandaged up (just what my surgeon prefers) so havent seen them properly yet. I am a bit sore and felt a bit sick today so decided to have a day relaxing about.
My boobs are obviously a bit hard, and a bit too far apart for my liking. Because they are so far apart this means that they are going past my natural body line. (dont even know if Im making any sense). So i am wearing a sports bra and then put on a tightish top. The top that I used endlessly with my bras and rice pre op. OMG I looked huge and freaked out i cried. The funny thing is side on profile looking into the mirror they are not that sticky out iykwim but face on because they are far apart, they look huge.
The logical side of brain is saying, once they are soft, i can wear a bra which will bring the cleavage in and if it brings the boobs together then surely that means they wont stick on at the side as much, I also know they will change . Imagine even worrying they might be too big for me, god they ae only 250cc.
The other thing is the sports bra size. I want to make sure Im wearing the right one. I bought a 32 c a 32d and a 34c (all cheapies) and have no idea if any are right to be honest.
A while back I had hummed and hawed on how to measure properly, went to la senza and marks and debenhams who all said I was a 32 a pre op , maybe a 30b. I measured just a above 28 around the ribs and 32 i think around the boobs.
A lovely lady on here called Abbie has mentioned severall times that this is wrong and the band size is your inital measurement, ( the old way being add 4 etc)
I couldnt get my head round it thinking well if this is how the shops do it how can it be wrong. well im getting it now I think. Iam 29 maybe round the ribs and boobs are 35, so what size sports bra do I need. The old way would make me a 34 b which i dont think is right??
I need to know how a sports bra should feel, should it be really tight so its uncomfortable?
The ones I have are the 32c 32d and 34c, the 32s feel more supportive around the rib cage, but because I have a space in the middle of my boobs this bit of the bra is not filled.
SO based on 29 ribcage and 35 at the moment ( with thin bandages still on), wot do you think ladies. My friend who had double masectomy and implants reconstruction says she thinks shock absorbers are better and I can get them a bit cheaper off ebay. But question is.........what size and will my boobs ever come together. They dont like that high , just normal, but just very very wide
HELP

Hey Dee
I haven't been "done" yet but I am sure all the ladies will be along in a bit to tell you not to worry! From everything I have read, that sounds totally normal. I am also going to be strapped up and surely that is going to make you look a funny shape!
You're only 4 days post op, from what everyone says you will change loads over the next few weeks & months.
Can't help with the sports bra size, but didn't your PS give you an indication on what sizes to buy?

aw thanks angelemma, the ps said that the 34c was a bit wide looking for me so she thought I was probably going to end up a 32d or e?, so told me to try the 32d sports bra. It is ok dont get me wrong, but could it be tighter, my friend thinks so and told me to tighten the straps so i was supported more. Only problem was , they were tightened to the max which made me question them considering this gap between the boobs means the wee bit of fabric seems , well not baggy , but emptyeesh?

I don't use the 'measuring' method hun, women for years have been wearing the wrong sized bras using that method, the best way to ensure you're wearing the right bra is to be 'fitted'
here is the website where I get fitted hunni, they give some good instructions on how your bra should 'fit' rather than 'measure' HERE
You can also Email pics of you in your bra and they will help advise you on size and where you're going wrong if need be. xxx

Hi dimpledee. I can sympathise with the frankeinboobs and post op blues, which it sounds like you have hun.
From your measurements I'd say you need a 30DD sports bra hun. It should feel supportive but not uncomfortable. You might need a 32back just now because of swelling etc so you might need to wear a 32D. Basically, if you go up a backsize you go down a cupsize and vice versa.

Re: FRANKEINBOOBS 4days post op :-(
Well i think you are lucky hunny, I had 525 overs to be a DD-E and i am wearing a C sports bra because my 34D is baggy on me. You can always get a Macom post op support bra if you are unsure on your size as the cups stretch for swelling etc.
Dont forget you are still swollen and the space between will close in time. My gap is getting smaller along with my boobs :dunno:

Re: FRANKEINBOOBS 4days post op :-(
Hi dimpledee I had to go up an extra band size for my sports bras (usually a 32 so cought 34) and they have felt fine, in the last week I feel my swelling has gone down and could probably go to a 32 again but think it will feel a bit tight so I'm sticking with the 34 for now.
I felt like the gap inbetween my boobs looked too big at first and like you going further than my body line (think the sports bras don't help visually) but now it's beginning to get a bit smaller, think it's all to do with them settling into place.
They have changed so much since week 1, I'm sure your noticing changes too so don't worry just yet xx

hi dimpledee -- fret not, we've all been there, and it will pass.
and a big vote from me for a macom bra. i was in a shock absorber in two different band/cup sizes and neither was right and i was uncomfortable -- i put the macom on and it was SUCH a relief. now i plan to live in it until my 6- week check :heehee:
hang in there, it gets better.
