Telling work/pregnancy Empty Re: Telling work/pregnancy

Hey, I have another question. Well 2 actually. (I'm sure I'll have loads more!)

1) How much time do you need off work? (I'm a bit worried as I work in an office environment and I don't want people knowing my personal business, but even though I want them to look very natural, I'm pretty sure someone is going to notice! If any of you do work in that type of gossipy environment, how did you approach the issue - were you completely open about it, or were you more like "mind your business!" PS I work with women and men.

2) Have any of you gone on to have children after having a BA, and if so, did pregnancy change your breasts again requiring more surgery? That is something I have always wondered.

Sorry for all the questions lol

This totally depends on the individual but a week should be fine, some go back within days others will take longer but providing you have rested and there has been no complications a week i would say, when back at work remember it is none of their business what you do and a BA is alot easier to disguise than you imagine it to be, soon your news will be yesterdays news and they'll find something else to gossip about, be proud and ignore if i were you.

i waited until after i'd had mine but it was only then i had an issue

Sorry for all the questions lol
Just a tip, post your questions individually with new topics and they will get more viewing then hun Hug

Hope this has helped you sweetie xx

This all depends on what you have (overs/unders), as a believe there is more discomfort involved with the unders. It also depends on what job you do.

I had my BA (overs) done on a wednesday and was back in work monday (I work in a call centre) and I was fine. I asked my surgeon how long I'd need off and he said this was ok.

Can't help you on the preg thing I'm afraid xxx

Also, I had 340 overs from a 32b (now 32/34dd ish) and nobody would have noticed if I hadn't of told them. xx

Hey hun,

I work in a very gossipy office environment, the walls have ears here, it's terrible!!

I went back to work on Day 9, so took a week off, and I kid you not, not one single person has noticed!

I told the two girls I work closely with, as I class them as friends, but apart from that, everyone's clueless!!

They're not huge, a natural looking C cup, but I was still paranoid coming back... I was just really careful about what I wore, and accessorised with scarves & things... & it paid off!

I'm still in sports bras, so maybe when I can wear proper bras, and in the summer when I can wear strappy tops, I may get a few glances... but maybe not! Only time will tell!!

Oh, but if anyone did ask, I don't think I'd deny it! I have nothing to be ashamed of!!

moonmar wrote:Hi hun, my suggestions to keep the gossip out, if you do decide to go through with the surgery, is to start padding up your bra gradually as your surgery date approaches, or even start wearing 2 bras towards the end if necessary. And also start wearing looser clothing before if you are used to wear tight shirts - so you don't suddenly change your fashion style after the op when you will want to wear loose clothes for a while for comfort and also because you will feel a bit self conscious at first. This way people will get used to see you with bigger breasts and they won't notice a difference afterwards, they may think you have gained weight but who cares. Just act natural and they won't know. And if someone does notice, well, as you say, it's none of their business, keep them wondering.

I cannot answer the children question as I haven't had any (pre or post op!). it is possible that your breast will change after pregnancy as it would happen with normal breast. obviouly the implant won't shrink like real breasts do! But you may have loose skin that may require uplifting or filling up with a bigger implant. It is a very individual thing though, everyone's body recovers differently after pregnancy, so you might need no further surgery at all - but you will not know until it happens I am afraid!!!!

Good luck xxxx

Hey hun,

My PS has told me 2 weeks (I'm having unders). My GP has agreed to write me a vague certificate something to the effect of 'recovery from surgery'. I don't intend to tell anyone at work. I told my male manager I was having 2 weeks off for an operation and that it was personal and he didn't ask anymore, he is going to pass this onto my female line manager who will no doubt try to grill me this week. I've checked with HR though and I'm not obliged to disclose the nature of surgery if I don't wish to, they said the only issue would be is if I would be having more absences due to the 'reason'!No doubt the others in my small team will want to know why I'm off but I believe I've got my right to privacy and I don't think they would understand anyway. I too am a bit worried about the looking bigger thing so for the last couple of weeks I have been wearing the Atlantis gel bras so hopefully this will do the trick!!Hope this helps D xx

Post by Jessica 30th March 2009, 5:41 pm

Thank you guys I will post different questions as separate posts from now on. I think those are all the questions I have for now, I'm sure I'll have more soon!

I think you're all totally right about the work thing - it's not like I'd be going from totally flat chested as I am a fair sized 32B ATM. I will work up gradually by padding so people wont notice that much. I also work in a call centre and the gossip that goes around is just ridiculous - it's never that much of a problem until you're at the wrong end of it!

Thanks guys x

Hey hun!
I didnt tell anyone at work and because i was wearing gel filled bras all the time before (would never leave the house without it!) nobody noticed!
I said i'd been off with a bad back, everyone asked if i was better and that was that. I dont look any different as they're no bigger than they looked before.
I know 1 person who had a ba then had children and she's had no probs, apart from theyve got loads bigger!
Hope this helps :) xx

Hey hunni

I went back to work on day 5 (working from home) and day 10 in the office. I was really tired the first week, so would have preferred more time off, but I had a project that I was working on.

As for people at work, no-one noticed. I used to wear gel bras, and I thought they were around the same size, but lately I have been looking at old pictures and can't believe how much smaller I looked back then. Still, nobody noticed!!!

Good luck hunni.
