DVT stockings!!
Has anyone had to wear anti DVT stockings after they had their BA?
Told to wear mine for 2 weeks following surgery - but unsure how effective they actually are.
Make my legs a bit itchy but not too bad to wear apart from that. Just wanted some opinions xxxxxxxxxxxx

Re: DVT stockings!!
I was told to wear mine until I was active and walking around.
If you're fully mobile now hun and finding the stockings uncomfortable maybe if you called the clinic and explained they might possible allow you to take them off.
You should follow the instructions that given by your clinic though hun. xx

Told to wear mine for 2 weeks which seems a long time to me - they are probably just being cautious but like you say once I am up and about a bit more will probably take them off but will check with the clinic xx

Re: DVT stockings!!
I was told to wear them for two weeks as well (I had Mrs Kat as well so guess there's no surprise there!!).
After about five days they were driving me insane. My husband phoned to check if I had to keep wearing them and they did tell him that I had to persevere. We then had a rare mini UK heatwave and I just couldn't cope anymore so stopped wearing them after a week. When I went for my post check-up, I did tell the nurse that I wasn't wearing them and, whilst I wouldn't say that she approved, she didn't seem horrified, and was told to try and put them back on when the weather cooled off. I did make it clear that I was up and active where possible.
For what it is worth, I would try and persevere as the time will go by quickly ... and in this cold weather it's a nice extra layer!! Good luck xx

Thanks for that ladies
Like FrockyHorror says, at least it is winter and I am nice and cosy in my lovely white stockings! You are also right, FrockyHorror they itch like mad - took them off last night for 10 minutes and had a good scratch! lolxxxxxxxx

Re: DVT stockings!!
Out of interest FrockyHorror what size were you pre op and what size are you now? I had the same 420 cc Nagor's as you but had overs so would be interested to know. Take care xxxxx

Re: DVT stockings!!
I was wearing a 34A bra before (but probably should have been wearing a 32B!). I now tend to wear a 32E (I have a variety of sizes depending on the make/cut!!).
If I was told that I would have been that size after the op then I would probably have backed out as that would have sounded enormous to me ... instead they are exactly what I was after ... yay!!
Hope you're healing well xx
