Feeling down, PIPs, smoking, reop aaggghhhh!
Hi Everyone,
I am not normally such a misery. Not intending to get anyone down. Just struggling a bit at the moment.
As time goes on i cant help feeling really down and angry about the whole PIP situation. Of course i dont have it as bad as some, and i am thankful for that. I just dont see how it cannot be clear cut and everyone who has had problems with these awful implants cant just get them sorted and be compensated for the extra stress it has caused. The worry that i might have industrial silicone in my body makes me sick. I do not see how the regulatory authorities in France could not have picked this up for so long, and surely it must be their responsibility now to put things right.
I guess it does'nt help either that i am failing dismally to give up smoking even though i would like to be prepared for my op.
Sorry for the rant ladies, and good luck to everyone getting their PIPs removed and suing the off those who are responsible!

Its good to have a rant! Your not being a misery the whole thing is really awful. When i found out about the PIp thing in May i just kept bursting into tears all the time.I only found out after i had pains in my left boob and was researching the signs of rupture on the internet. I got really annoyed too because Harley Medical's attitude was just total denial that there is anything wrong with PIPs they are not even helping us ladies. I felt stupid and ripped off because i trusted them when they said they were safe. Even if they did think they were safe at the time they really should be offering support and discounted surgery for replacement now but they are not! They really dont care it seems.
Got mine replaced on aug 12th and im so glad they are gone but whenever i have a post op blues moment i still get upset just cause of having to have another op and go through it all again.
Wishing you all the best for your Re-op and hang on in there with the not smoking it does get easier

Unfortunately your surgeon won't be able to diagnose a ruptured implant from a basic examination hunny, it's just impossible for them to do that, if you do suspect a rupture, you should see your GP about arranging a scan to confirm your suspicions sweetie, a ultrasound/MRI scan is the ONLY way to get a diagnosis of a rupture hunni.
I hope your consultation goes well hunni and rant away all you like babe, after all you're going through a good rant will do you good. xxx

Thanks Girlies,
Kate, how are you feeling now? I hope you are healing well x
Thanks Cookie, i think its the not knowing, there is not much point me having an MRI now, so i will just have to wait to have it confirmed. Luckily i am within my aftercare so i dont have the extra worry of paying for it x
Good luck with your appointment kkkk, i hope it goes well, im always here if you need support x
I promise you all my future posts will be much more positive, hopefully once i have had the op i will be able to reassure others going through the same.

Hey Vix
Know how you're feeling hun...it's one big ugly mess. I too have moments of bursting into tears and blaming myself. But we will all get through this and out the other side. Just gotta stick together.
Good luck with the smoking...have you tried gum and patches at all?

Hi Vix
I completely understand and totally get how you are feeling. A friend of mine had her PIP's replaced by the same surgeon who will be exchanging mine and she shared a photo with me of one of the implants he removed. It made me feel ill, embarrassed, disgusted, depressed, FURIOUS.. but on a positive note it made me completely excited about my surgery on the 22nd Sept.
I researched my BA very very thoroughly, and I even found negative info on the net which I quizzed my surgeon (at the time) about, I even called other centres in my state that used PIP's and asked them what they thought about my findings AND discussed it with my GP. They all said that there is no way any surgeon would risk the backlash of implanting dodgy implants and it was probably just a couple disgruntled clients using aliases and blowing off steam on the net.
I had even mentioned the brand I was having on another forum and one of the members from here very politely warned me once again, but unfortunately I had been won over by the reduced price the surgeon had offered and I guess I was prepared to believe that the internet wasn't relaible.
7 weeks later when I heard about the recall I felt like such an idiot for ignoring my gut instinct.
As with the smoking, I'm also in the same boat. Each packet I buy is 'the last one' And stress really isn't a good enough excuse, so I kick myself daily for continuing to smoke. Yes I have cut down a whole lot.. but really, that's just not good enough.
I'm glad I found this thread and really didn't mean to hijack, but I'm having a pretty bad day today. Can't wait until I'm recovered and can just move on :)

Hi Little one, i am chewing normal gum, but i dont really want to use replacements, plus i read somewhere that you shouldnt be taking nicotine replacement either. I have gone all day today without really wanting one at all, so on the up! x
Thanks for your post Lady lumps, its nice to know i am not the only one. Where are you having your reop and which implants are you having? Am i right in thinking you are in America?
I agree i just want them replaced and healed, i am not looking forward to the recovery because i have not chosen this operation. I think i will find it easier to be positive once they are out and i know the operation went ok. xx

Re: Feeling down, PIPs, smoking, reop aaggghhhh!
Good luck with the stopping smoking sweetie.
I didn't have PIPs hun, but a lot of what you're going through, I went through too due to an early rupture and having to undergo surgery I wasn't prepared for or wanted then finding out I had further complications that needed extra funding that I didn't have and not looking forward to the re-op as I almost felt I was being robbed, if it will help any of you to read please feel free to read my diary, I'm sure you'll relate to a lot of it as I relate so much to an awful lot so many of you ladies are going through - it's in the boob job diaries section - cookies journey
I hope it may help for those suffering emotionally or with a rupture to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. xxx

Re: Feeling down, PIPs, smoking, reop aaggghhhh!
Hi Vix
I'm in Australia :)
I had my PIP's put in by Cosmetic Studio by a cosmetic surgeon :( and having my exchange through a main hospital with Dr Mark Lee. I'm hoping for 350 HP Mentors but I think there is a cc limit for medicare and my private health insurance to cover a percentage of the op. I'm quietly wishing that it is 65cc's and under lol. Mainly because the diameter of the 325's is smaller than the diameter of what I have now (290's) so I'm worried they won't sit right or fill me out properly.
Cookie, you are right, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. And there is always people who are better off and worse off. I need to start counting down.
