No hun, it's just something you can get, it's the formation of scar tissue around the implant. We all have scar tissue forming a capsule around the implant but with CC this formation can harden and cause pain and distortion of the implant in extreme cases. They use textured implants which is supposed to reduce the % chance of getting CC or placement under the muscle is also supposed to reduce the chance of getting CC as the mucle being used is supposed to constantly push on the scar tissue and it will be less likely to be able to form a hard capsule, although you can still get CC with unders.

Hi hun, I can only echo what misf1 said. This is just one of those unfortunate things that can happen. Some surgeons say to massage the implants but as far as I am aware there is no evidence this prevents CC. CC can also happen at any time - it could be 2 months or it could be 6yrs. It is a risk we take however it is a very small risk these days with the textured implants.

Of all the complications associated with breast augmentation capsular contracture is the most common and can happen at any time.
There is no specific known cause but it is thought you are at greater risk of developing CC if you smoke, have the implant 'over' the muscle, develop an infection, seroma or a heamatoma. xx
