28th
Hope I'm not too late to join in. All booked for 28th at Highgate with dr frati. Very excited but all happened much quicker than expected only booked last week. Eeeek!!
Struggling to stop smoking and just wondering if it really matters if I had one or two a day? Dr didn't say a thing but paperwork says "STOP NOW" in a very scary way.
I know some people are told to take arnica but anyone else been told to take bromelain?? I had never heard of it before and don't know if it's that important or not?????

Re: September Buddies!
Hi Lucyt,
Never too late, well done on getting a date so quickly, you must be excited!
I have struggled to stop smoking, i managed to cut down and then had none 3 days before op, it is definately recomended that you give up preferebly 2 weeks before op and 2 weeks after as it dramatically affects your healing. As for arnica, some people are asked to take it, some arnt. I have taken it for both my ops and havent had bruising but have read others have still got bruising when taking it.
Bromelain is a natural anti inflamatory, i have not heard of it being recomended before but it makes sense, it will help with swelling. It is found naturally in fresh pineapple. Will also be good for post op bloating from the GA.
Hope this has helped a bit, good luck xx

Re: September Buddies!
Hey lucyt more september girls always welcome!
You must be excited with it all happening so quick, I had my BA yesterday at Highgate and stayed the night and they looked after me really well.
I don't know about the supplements, I was told not to take anything at all, no vitamins or anything.
The more you can cut down / stop the smoking the better for your healing, as you know, so just do your best and especially try to stop the closer it gets to your op cos it's supposed to really make a difference. xxx
HelloSailor I packed my bag so heavy lol I struggled carrying it there! I packed a few magazines which weighed me down quite a bit but I was glad I did cos it was boring sometimes waiting to go down for the op and then later on in the evening cos I was by myself so nobody to talk to. Good luck! xx

Hi lucy! Don't worry, I had my consultation a month ago and booked the same day.
I have been struggling with the cigarettes, I was a heavy smoker and wasn't planning on quitting any time soon, so stopping for the op has been hard. It tells you to STOP because smokers are 10 times more likely to get an infection. I asked if I could use nicotine replacement and was told no as it's the nicotine which can cause the problems. It's been hard, and of course you're not allowed alcohol either which also sucks. I've gone cold turkey on the fags and managed two weeks. It's annoying - and no my skin doesn't look better and no I've not noticed a difference in my taste buds improving but I have put the smokes money aside and bought myself LOADS of new clothes. It's amazing how much money you tot up without smoking.
As the girls here told me, just think of your new boobs! Lol.
I've been taking the Arnica, but not sure if I am meant to take it tomorrow on the day of my op? If anyone knows and can let me know that would be great!

Re: September Buddies!
Thanks guys. Have actually managed no fags for two days and trying to think "just till 2 weeks post op" but have been toying with the idea of just a sneaky one.
Obviously I don't actually know as I am still pre-op but I would guess that no arnica for the duration you are nil by mouth and then just start again once you stop puking from the anaesthetic???????
