Post surgery bra? Empty Post surgery bra?

Post by fluffy_bunn1e 6th September 2009, 10:40 am

I thought through Mybreat i was untitled to a sports bra for after surgey, as i booked back in April, well after e mailing them asking i recieved a wonderbra-much appriciated.

But a girl i know recieved a post surgery bra? to hold it all in place (was over a year ago tho)

Emailed Mybreast and they said i could purchase one from them at £29.99.

I asked my surgeon what sports bra i should get for after and he wasnt too helpful, just said a c, or d.

So what bras would you girls suggest and where from?im having partil unders, do i need a post surgey bra or just a sports bra?

I only got normal sports bras from La Senza and a shop in Izmir when i had them done, but i wish i had of used a post op bra as i felt the band rubbed on my incisions quiet a bit. I know the royce bra's come down quiet low so there not sat on your incision.

You could maybe get a surgery bra and a couple of normal ones hun.

The Z bra as well which is also meant to be good, they are both quiet pricey though so im not sure if you want to shop around hun.

I was expecting to pay that much, but not sure waht size to get, oh im hopeless at this!

Im currently a 32a hoping to be 32d, maybe 32c, do you think i should get 32 d or 34 d, for swelling? i ll just but 1 at first for imediatley after surgey, and buy a few cheaper sports bras in a varitey of band and cup sizes, what you think?

Go for the bigger band hun, just for swelling at first then like you say get a few cheapish ones in various band sizes or get a bra extender, just noticed your ticker not long now!!

Personally if you are going to spend a bit of money on a sports bra I'd get it in the band size that you are already. You don't want to buy a bigger one just for swelling and then it become useless.

I've got a White bra extender if you would like it. Never used it as I didn't have much swelling on my band size. If you would like it PM me your details and I'll send it to you x

I got Asda sports bras at £4 each - they seem to be doing the job just fine, they are very comfy and hold everything just fine. I also got a 'proper' Triumph sports bra that has quite a deep band on it and it's also very comfy. I agree with Jemmy bout not getting a larger size band - I'm 13 days post op now and my band size is back to normal now.

Well the worst thing for me was having the bra too tight so i went up a band size, and i was swollen for quiet a while but everyone is different i suppose.

I couldn't wear my own band size for about a week as I found it unbareably tight, there was no way I could have put up with it, I was already uncomfortable enough as it was so didn't want to add to it. I've got 2 Royce post op bra's, in a 34e and a 36dd and I wore the 36dd constantly, but now I'm a 32F Shocked . I know I've worn them both, but your welcome to have them as I will never use them again. Just feels like a bit of a waste them sitting there doing nothing. I got a M&S front zip sports bra which I couldn't wear until swelling and bruising had subsided a bit, but now its the only one I wear at night. Primark also do some good cheap ones for day so you can wear under your clothes without it looking like a sports bra, £5-£6 I think, it had a racer back and the fabric was suppose to 'breath' to keep you from getting to hot in it..

i've got a royce post op bra which i wore loads to begin with as it was the most comfy, i also brought a couple of shock absorbers for max support which i wear loads now. i still wear the royce post op bra to sleep in as its so comfortable hun. i'd def recommend it, it's also front fastening which is a lot easier for the first week or so xxx

Hi - my advice is to get your usual band size and buy bra extenders (although I see Jemmy is sending you one - even better!)

I got sports bras in 32C and 32D - the nurse thought the D fitted better and I still wear it now sometimes. I had 255cc partial unders, anatomicals.

Also thought I'd mention that I have seen post-surgery bras in M&S and even Asda lately...sure they weren't around 6 months ago when I needed them! I don't know whether they're any better, but the Asda one was £6. Maybe worth a try?

This may be a silly question but I take it you can't use bra extenders with front fastening bras?

These are the ones I wore post op too. They look exactly the same as the ones MB sell but are half the price!

The Asda ones are good too as a back up as they are so cheap and comfy too.

I too got a royce bra hun, like CB said they do come down lower so they dont rub on your incisions however I also purchased two extra high impact sports bras from M&S which were 18 pounds each and zipped up at the front and I cannot fault them one bit hun xxx
