Hi,

just basically spoke about everything. asked him if i would be awake going to theater he said YESS! shock i thought id be put asleep first , gonah be a nervous wreck! what happened to yous the same? ill probably faint before i get to theater LOL sad smile .

You've got it in one! I had never had a GA  before my BA & it was one of my main worries & reason I had put off having BA for years. After it was all over couldn't believe I Had worried so much, I actually  quite liked the GA!
You'll be fine, nurse & anaesthetist chatted away, felt like I had no sooner drifted off into a nice cosy sleep to be then woken up in recovery, felt like I had shut my eyes for seconds! XXX

I thought they usually give you the GA in an adjoining room?! I will sh*t myself if I see any kind of 'medical instruments' lol!!!

You've got nothing to worry about :) overs had a few for various reasons, not all of them good, but the GA has always been lovely. I don't know whether ive just been lucky but ive always had a lovely nurse hold my hand as they put me under. They tell you exactly whats happening so no nasty shocks, it really does feel like you are just drifting off to sleep. The next thing you know yr awake in recovery, maybe feeling a bit sick and groggy but thats it :)
You will breeze it x

Tell them you are really nervous about the ga and they'll give you a sedative first! I agree though, nothing to worry about, it's a nice feeling and the best sleep ever!!

The GA petrified me as I've never had one, when it came to going down I had a massive panic attack (very embarrassed now) but it was fine, the 3 male nurses/doctors were absolutely lovely. One held my hand and one wiped my tears

From when I have had GA before for other reasons, it only feels like you have been asleep for 2 minutes before waking up.and to be honest going private the nurses have more time for you anyway. I would imagine you are more looked after xx

I agree anneritchley. It's like 2 mins. When I woke my first words were ' I want my kids' then crashed out again haha then scoffed a cheese toastie and the nurse found most of it between my new boobs! You'll be in good hands lovely xx

Hehe .its nice to shed some light and have a laugh about the bit of surgery that a lot of people worry about . It seems a lot of people seem to worry about the GA . I hope I get a sexy anesthetist at least. I'm paying enough!!! Xx

You will be absolutely fine hunni!. I too am one of these who love the feeling of being put to sleep. I hadn't slept for days as was worrying so much that the op would get get cancelled for one reason or other that by the day of my surgery I was super calm. They do put you to sleep in a side room not in the theatre and they gave me a strong painkiller through the drip first and I was like ahhh I'm falling asleep now that's lovely and she was like that's just the painkiller I'll tell you when we are putting you to sleep. The next thing I remember is waking up! The staff were so lovely too!! In fact I just loved the whole experience and still am 2 weeks on!!! xx

I think I will be put to sleep in a side room too, I always have before. The thought of seeing the big lights in theatre freaks me out a bit x
