Hey girlies,

Just curious as to what people's reactions were to you either having or thinking about having a BA (family, friends etc)?

I've not yet discussed this with any family or friends, apart from my hubby, so i am intrigued about what they will say...obviously it is ultimately my decision but just wondered what your experiences were....?

Reactions to getting BA Empty Re: Reactions to getting BA

Post by COOKIE 22nd November 2012, 3:58 pm

My family were told and all were really against me having my BA. My parents actually went to great lengths to try and get me to change my mind digging up every gory story they could about the bad side of cosmetic surgery. I respected their opinion, heard them out but obviously had it don't anyway. We never speak of about it since its been done. It's like it never happened lol.

My husband was amazing. He was dead against me having a BA. Loved me just the way I was and all that, but although he was so against it. Still is. He supported my decision and has been the only one to support me since.

I only told one friend. She was great I have to say and has no opinions about BAs either way. Is till haven't told anyone else. I know they suspect, they may even know and have threw in a few comments here and there but I didn't rise to them.

I never sat and had a conversation about my pre-op boobs so I'm certainly not going to sit with them and have a conversation about them post-op. xxx

All of my friends and family have been brilliant. My mum and partner and nan have said not to I don't need it etc but have supported me the whole way. I have a brilliant set of girl friends, and they've all offered help after and a few have said they're jealous, but in a nice way xx

My parents have been really supportive, at first my dad didn't understand why but they know it's something I have wanted for 10 years so wasn't a shock. My sister reacted the worst, oddly, but she's fine now. My little brother bless him said "I'm not going to know where to look now!" haha!
My parents have been amazing enough to fund it for me, I didn't even ask, my dad offered! Don't think they liked the idea of me getting a high interest loan. I pay them back monthly so without them I still may have been in the thinking about it stage! My parents are not rich at all and I think I have wiped out there savings temporarily which makes it even more lovely :)
Friends have all been fine and supportive... not negative or anything. I'm sure there are a few people at my work who have gossiped but I can handle that. I know they wouldn't dare say anything to my face :)
Lastly my b/f has been fine... it had kind of killed our sex life oddly but other than that everything is A OK.

I've always been really open about my boob hate :( I kind of wish I hadn't now but all of my friends are fine with it. they all have naturally big boobs n a few of them are even planning reductions so I guess they can relate. My mum just said 'ultimately its your body just be careful and choose a good surgeon'. Xx

Post by CassieShips 22nd November 2012, 5:20 pm

To begin with my family done the whole you don't need it etc...but after my mam came to a consultation with me he see why I needed to do it.

My OH said from day one that if its what I want then he will support me but the loves me the way I was. Now he's seen them PO he loves them ha

I had to tell work as we are a small office and socialise a lot so they know my body and I'm having 4 weeks off so we ha to arrange cover. Tbh I am friends with my colleagues so didn't mind them knowing.

I tried to keep it off Facebook as there are people who don't need to know on there. And so far only friends who know are ones who have visited me.

I have to admit if people have anything to say about me I couldn't really care less as it has made me so happy :) xxx

Only my husband knows i'm getting it done. I know that my parents wont understand and i don't want to get into the whole tuberous breast congenital deformity debate with them after going through it with my husband. Ultimately tho as it is only me and my husband are going to see them i think it is no-one else's business but ours and as much as i love my friends i wouldn't trust them to keep any secret at all. I worked in a bingo hall once and by the end of my 4 hour shift everyone knew i'd been wearing chicken fillets after my best friend (who is a natural 34FF by the way) pointed it out and told everyone including the customers and the lads on shift disappoint yeah....my friends ain't so great haha x

Generally people have been supportive, I hear "well if its made you happy it's worth it" quite a lot haha. Odd people have made a joke of it or made snide comments but those are the people who either don't understand reasons for a BA or who's opinion doesn't matter to me!

You'll find a mix of emotions but ultimately how you feel is the only important factor!x

I have only told my boyfriend and 2 of my really close friends. All have been excited for me and supportive of my decision. I don't think I'll ever really tell my parents because I feel like they'd be disappointed in me, and that's the last thing I want. As for everyone else, I feel like its my own personal secret so they don't need to know. People have a tendancy to gossip and I'd like to avoid that as much as possible. I've been wearing padded bras for forever so I doubt anyone will really ever notice anyways haha.

Reactions to getting BA Empty Re: Reactions to getting BA

Post by alice111 23rd November 2012, 1:38 am

Only my immediate family know.

If I told my friends, they would most likely tell their mums or immediate family members...and I didn't want that. I told a friend about my cheek op and she told her mum cus she was worried about me cus I was swollen at the time....I thought never again.

Other family members are probably wondering, has she? hasnt she? I say I havent, as its none of their business.

Am giving no one the opportunity to talk about me, so its remained private, unless any bfs ask. xx

Reactions to getting BA Empty Re: Reactions to getting BA

Post by Becca85 23rd November 2012, 2:21 pm

I have tried to be pretty open about my plans, partly because I've got nothing to be ashamed about and partly because I want people to know the reasons I'm getting it done.

All my friends who are mothers have been completely understanding, a lot of them have lost their breast tissue post-kids and they get why I want them done. A few are quite inspired by what I'm doing and are considering it for themselves! I haven't told that many, just my immediate close group of friends, I haven't told anyone on FB or anyone who I'm not that close to.

DH doesn't really want me to get it done because he loves my boobs the way they are but he understands that I need to get it done for me so he's supporting me all the way.

My sister knows because she lives over here with us so it was impossible to keep it from her. I may tell my mother-in-law because she had some plastic surgery done a few years back so I think she'd be understanding. I'm not going to tell anyone else in the family unless it comes up after it's done.

I'm just hoping that my attempts at padding my bras out have been effective enough that people wont immediately realise I've had it done. That way I can tell people when and if I want to. But again, I'm not going to lie about it because I've got nothing to be ashamed about.

Thanks for all your responses :-) I'm not sure yet who I will or won't tell, but I think like most of you I would only mention it to close family and friends because my boobs are not a usual topic of conversation!! But as long as I'm happy with my decision that's good enough plus I have support of my hubby who is amazing :-)

Reactions to getting BA Empty Re: Reactions to getting BA

Post by Princess_x 23rd November 2012, 6:02 pm

I wanted a boob job since age 15 and my mum has always been supportive about me having one. I had my first one 4 years ago age 20. My dad didn't say much, he assumed I wanted to be a Jordan lookalike at first, then realised that's not necessarily what a boob job looks like.

Friends have all been supportive, practically every Tom, **naughty word** & Harry knows about my implants though as I live in a tiny village and lots of people have come up to me on a night out asking are they fake. I don't see the point in lying so I tell the truth x
