3rd time on left breast!!!! Empty 3rd time on left breast!!!!

Post by daisymay 4th October 2012, 8:53 am

Hi girls, had my first ba two years ago, three months after had to have the left one redone as the pocket not big enough. It never really settled after this and has been really uncomfortable and hard since second ba.I just kept leaving it thinking it must be fine and that I needed to give it more time. Also the surgeon was very good at getting me in and correcting it after the first ba.I recently went to see him and have been informed I have cc.
So I am having the cc removed next month.I also mentioned to surgeon that I have a lump under that breast and he said that it was not the implant it was indeed my own breast .As you can imagine I was still in shock realising I had to have another ba so I didn't really discuss the lump any further.I recently spoke to his secretary who said he would look at this during the surgery.I don't want to go to the doctors as feel that my surgeon would be best person to look at this what do you think?

aww no daisymay - i had similar prob and hd to have reop on pocket on left, went for my check up on tuesday and been told I might have to have another tweak in three months time cos its still not quite right. Is disappointing but Im glad Im not been fobbed off with no offer of help.

The lump definately needs checking. Personally Id still see my own gp first, waiting a month till the re-op to find out what it might be would kill me! - chances are its nothing serious - a cyst maybe and so not to worry. Hope you get sorted xx

I agree with kat hun and see your GP first.

Your surgeon specialises in plastic surgery. For the lump in your breast you need to seek advice from a specialist who deals only with this BEFORE you have surgery to correct the CC babe. I personally wouldn't disturb anything before going to see your GP and getting a referral to that someone that specialises in breast lumps.

Hope all goes Daisymay and please keep us updated wont you. Xx

Hi, thanks for your responses girls,I didn't really want to see my gp as he is not keen on plastic surgery and to be honest my breast is so tender couldn't bare for it to be messed about with.If I went to gp how long is it likely to be that they refer me to someone and then await results etc,?i thought maybe no quicker than if my surgeon did a biopsy? What do they do to check when you go through g.p?

Just had another question, is there somewhere you can pay to have this checked quickly?what sort of money does it cost?as having to pay again due to cc.

Don't worry about your GPs opinion about your surgery daisy, mines the same so I know how you feel hun. It's not their job to cast judgement over your decisions regarding your own body hun so I really wouldn't care what they think. It's their job to ensure you get the best medical treatment available to you should you need it.

They usually act pretty quickly with breast breast lumps, you'll probably be seen within a week, maybe 2 at most.

I personally wouldn't disturb the lump having the implant/CC taken care of with a biopsy done then. I'd see to the lump first babe and if necessary have the treatment required to deal with that 'first' and then have the CC taken care of.

Your GP will be aware of your surgery anyway hun.. Your surgical notes from when you had your BA will have been sent to your GP so you don't have to explain anything about your BA just do go and get that lump seen to lovely..

Honestly, the quicker breast lumps are seen to, the better for you babe. Xx

you could always ask to see another doctor if your not happy with your own. I'm sure you'll be fine and it'll be nothing but better to be safe than sorry x

I would go and see my GP first if I was in your position daisy, as Cookie pointed out you should see a specialist. Chances are it's nothing to worry about, I myself found a lump so I know the thought's that come to mind and they aren't pleasant. I was referred to my local hospital where I had an ultrasound, I was told there and then it was just a cyst. I was only waiting about a week from referral to appointment and it was free on the NHS. They take things like this very seriously, but if you don't feel comfortable with your registered GP then ask to see somebody else (maybe a female).

Best of luck xxx

Surgeons secretary has just phoned, he checked his notes and he did not feel anything sinister when I saw him the last time (and I did point out the lump then). So I will continue with capsulectomy next month.Fingers crossed!!
