My nurse said to sit up for 2 weeks post op and I'm at 8th day. I spoke w receptionist yestdy who also had own BA and she said not necessary to stay up at angle. That advice is really for face lifts not for BA's. I slept in a recliner for 1 wk, a Po-ang Style Ikea Chair. Curious if anyone has been told to sit up during night? And, how long? I did try a more slouched sleep position w aid of pillows last night and yes, when I fully woke, I felt a bit of heaviness, almost engorged feeling when I first sat up properly. I have first appt to remove stitches next Monday 4-16th but want to know how others might have experienced in this regard..

Hon I don't think they mean you have to be sleeping in a chair. You just need to be propped with pillows. I have about 4 normal pillows, a v pillow and then my two square cushions either side which I rest my arms on. Invest in a v-pillow...cheap as chips and well worth it

I find sleeping like that so comfy I do it all the time now. Last night was my first night at home after my re-op and was that comfy I didn't move! xxx

I was told to sleep so that my head was above my chest, so you are upright but not inthe sitting position.

Check with your nurse or ps if they meant you had to sleep completely upright.

Good luck and hope you are sleeping Ok. Xxx

That's all that's needed whether you have a BA or full anchor uplift. Sitting up is unnecessary, just head raised above your chest 'propped up' is all thats needed to help drain the fluid babes.

The engorged feeling you're experiencing is normal, it's what's known here as 'morning boob'. Its not a pleasant feeling but it's not going to harm you babe and is a normal part of your recovery. xx

Wow, I have not slept better! Thanks again for the sage advice. I went to my post-op yesterday (12 th day after). Doc (American, Board Certified) told me ok to sleep on the belly, putting weight on the precious-es, and he did say this is to facilitate fluffing... one must lay on tummy at least 5 min a day. This will flatten out the fake looking profile and is better than massage. He said we must do this exercise every day, and will help protect also against capsular contraction.

In the UK we mostly always use textured rather than smooth implants babe which adhere quicker to the pocket so unless any sort of massage is advised by a surgeon, for example Capsular Contracture, then any sort of massage is discouraged for these implants. xx
