Steristrips
Hi Girls
Just a quick question, am I supposed to pull my steristrips off? I have had them on since my stitches were taken out which was about 20 days ago.
They are starting to come away at each of the edges but are hanging on where they are stuck onto the scars.
I cant remember if my nurse said to pull them off or not and then I read on here that you should keep them on as they help to flatten the scarring.
Sorry for being rubbish!
Thanks and lots of love
Grace

Re: Steristrips
Hi Grace,
My nurse gave me a roll of the steristrips which I change every other day. I take them off have a shower and once dry put clean ones on again.
Think she said I need to do it for 6 weeks?

Re: Steristrips
It seems that we all get different advice I think I had mine on for a week or so.... but what I would say make sure they are soaking wet when you remove them as it make's it easier...

Re: Steristrips
I'm the same as Hattie hun, I was told to leave mine well alone until they fell off, I only had mine put on at 10 days, think they stayed on for a good 2 weeks, but I think that was because I was very particular about drying them !!

Re: Steristrips
I had steri strips for one day, after I had my stitches removed I was allowed to have a shower the next day and she said if they came off to just leave them off. I didn't have anything on my scars after 14 days.
Re: Steristrips
I took them off last night in the shower and the feeling is great! They came off really easily and my scars look great
Thanks girls

Re: Steristrips
Perhaps she didnt say 6 weeks to me then...I wasnt listening properly, I have to keep asking my sister what the nurse and surgeon had said about different things, as I was still on cloud 9.
Will keep using them though and having no probs with them and a bit of extra lining under my bra.
