Worried about muscle distortion
How common is muscle distortion with unders? That is one thing that is making me want to have overs! Is it a permanent thing or does the distortion fade? Is it painful? And is it noticeable to other people? x

Re: Worried about muscle distortion
I have no muscle distortion at all. I read somewhere distortion is more common on a muscular athletic body or body builders. I love the idea of the implant being partialy under the muscle like an internal bra and it also reduces the risk of capsular contracture, which was a BIG fear of mine. And it also reduces rippling. I did alot of research on under vs. overs before I made my decision and when I went to my consult before I could even say what I wanted, the PS examined me and said unders would be best for me. Your PS should be able to tell you if your chest has a risk of distortion......Good luck!

Re: Worried about muscle distortion
Hey hun, I had unders and was a bit anxious about this after my op. I was scared to use my chest muscles at all at first! But now I do all the things I used to and the girls - and muscles - are absolutely fine.
I think it is something that would happen more with athletes who use their chest muscles more than the average person. But it's also one of those things that could happen to anyone, for no apparent reason - like CC, bottoming out, it's one of the risks. The best thing to do is probably ask you PS about the facts and figures, if you're worried -what percentage of girls get it.
Good luck hun xx

Thanks, it's good to hear that some people can do exactly the same things as before with no problems.

Re: Worried about muscle distortion
I had it. It doesn't hurt at all although mine looked hideous! There are different degrees tho and some patients can overlook it and just put up with it. Mine was awful and my ps said it wasn't going to go away! I also had DB as well so a reop was the only way. I did train a lot before my surgery so maybe I had strong chest muscles? Even with my overs I still get it a tiny bit although its getting less and less and doesn't notice.

Re: Worried about muscle distortion
I have unders and have no real muscle distortion. I go to the gym and do everything I used to without any complications. My boobs do move apart if I really press down on my arms but they don't look awful or anything.

Re: Worried about muscle distortion
I'm early days in my boobie journey but I haven't experienced it at all hun, as the other girls have said...you need to speak to your ps and see what he advises, both placements carry potential risks as all surgery does, you just have to weigh up the pro's and con's!

Hi hon
Im wondering if it depends how slim you are as to whether or not you get muscle distortion.
I am a size 8-10 and small boned and I have it badly.
I wonder if the girls who dont are slightly bigger boned? Not sure?
I am certainly no athlete but i still get it.
I am changing to overs because of it.
Maybe ask your surgeon if he thinks you will get it?

I think it does depend on individual circumstances, but I don't think body size is an issue as I'm a very slender size 8 but as I said I am very early on in my recovery!

Re: Worried about muscle distortion
I think I will check with my ps and see what he advises. If you have to change to overs because of it is it included in the original price or would you have to fork out more money to get it corrected?
