Weight lifters and fitness fanatics
Good Morning all
I'm into lifting weights and I'm training to be an aerobics instructor. I don't even fill an A cup so as I lose fat what little I have will dissapear!
Is anyone out there into lifting or other fitness? And how did you cope with months off and getting out of shape?

Re: Weight lifters and fitness fanatics
Hello macca8,
Well, I started doing weights three times a week a few months before my uplift and BA in the hope of shaping up/strengthening up before the op. I had the op and I have to say, even though they say you can get back to it after 6 weeks I didn't get back to lifting weights for my upper body at all until 10 weeks post op.
It was really quite sore afterwards and the first few weeks felt like I had just well overdone it already in the gym. Then when the pain went, I still found that the muscle was just really weak and I wasn't able to press as much as I could before straight away, but it did come back. I am 6 months PO and absolutely fine now.
Recovery time generally depends on the placement you have. Overs will usually allow you to heal quicker than unders will;
In my case I had partial unders so the muscle was a lot more sore and had been affected more due to this technique/ placement. It was really frustrating to be out of the loop with training and only being able to do walks on the treadmill, but I had unders because I had an uplift, and the surgeon wanted to ensure my boobs stayed in their more youthful position for the longest time possible. He said that the muscle would help to support the implant more if I had unders and so I went with that option- anything that would help me a little more in that department!!!
You do get a weird 'muscle flex distortion' movement going on when you flex your chest muscles with unders. Its really odd- when I flex, my whole boob squeezes up really noticeably like a man pec! But I don't find this a problem as you can only really see it when you're naked and its not like you'll be doing naked training in the gym! lol!!
I have heard a lot of surgeons suggesting overs for weight trainers for that reason....If you are barely scraping an A cup pre BA however, some surgeons do tend to suggest having unders anyway, because if you have very little breast tissue to start, you may not be able to sufficiently cover the inserted implant and in some cases rippling can become an issue.
Perhaps speak to Bock from here too- she has a similar job, she is a personal trainer and has had hers done. Can't remember for sure but I think she had overs so maybe she can share her experiences with you.
Good luck!

Im a complete fitness junkie -into interval/endurance training but never do weights (Im quite muscly naturally so could look like Madonna easily - no ta lol!) I went back to spinning after 3 weeks and running after 4 weeks . I took it slow and wore a heart rate monitor to make sure I didnt over do it. I was back to my normal training regime at about 6 weeks. I did have overs which heal quicker though and prob did me good to have a little break at the time.
Good luck!

Re: Weight lifters and fitness fanatics
Hello Macca,
I'm into power and olympic lifting myself. My surgery is next May. I'm having unders and I've been told it'll take me up to six-8 weeks to get back into my fitness routine. I have also had a chat with other power lifters who had BA done and for those who had unders, most said it took them about two months to properly lift again as the muscle has weakened. Exactly just like CherryCheeseCake has described also.
But it should not be an issue with overs as you can just get back to lifting within 4-5 weeks.
I guess we'll have to take it slowly, gradually until the strength and proper form come back. It's like being a newbie into lifting again, lol and this is a bit annoying as I'm aware I will lose the upper body strength I worked so hard to achieve. I have a competition coming up in August and I really hope I'll be ready for it.
But that's the sacrifice for beautiful boobs, eh?

Hi Anne, I have recently lost a stone through running every morning and have been in a real panic about putting all the weight on again after my BA. Now that you have said you could run after four weeks I feel much better!! Am borrowing an exercise bike as i thought I could use that after a couple of weeks (sittting up on saddle not leaning to handle bars) and walking as soon as I can should help to I guess? I don't lift weights either really as I bulk up easy too, but am having overs so that isn't so much an issue anyway. Good luck girls...do share any exercise post BA tips that you have please!! Z x
