POST BA - In BAD pain Empty POST BA - In BAD pain

Post by Stephanie90 13th February 2010, 12:12 pm

Hi girls..

I had my BA on wednesday, in the hospital at the night i was fine i just felt a little uncomfortable and thursday morning i felt the same. As soon as i got home thursday lunch time after travelling back from london, i was in hurrendous pain. I took the tablets they gave me which were co-codamol and they wasnt helping at all. After spenging the day moving and trying to get comfortable i retreeted to my bed. At about 1 am i woke up crying i was so sore i felt like my scars were coming apart *only way i can describe it* i took the co-codamol again and tried getting some sleep, sleeping upright! After about an hour of trying to get comfortable i had no luck. I got so bad that i couldnt breath propperly and coughing was the most aganising pain in the world. My OH was trying to help, but as most off you probably experienced when your in alot of pain you cant explain to someone how to help. In the end i gave up and just laid in pain unil i finally drifted off to sleep. The next day the pain was not going at all. My hands keeped going numb which was worrying me alot. I rung the emergency line that MYA supplied and they said it was all normall and to stop takiing the co-codamol and change to paracetamol and irupfofen. Iv been taken them since Friday morning now and they have helped a little bit, But the pain is still pretty unbareable. every now and again i fell like someone has opened up my scars and pulling my breast under my arms..

Has anyone else expericed pain like this? is it normall and im just being a complete woos?
If so how long does this pain last?
Iv read a few posts on here and girls saying they were up and doing things the next again i cant help but be jelous!

PLEASE HELP!! iv got to the point now were i regret having them done :tears:

hiya Stephanie

Sorry to hear your in so much pain hun. I had my BA on a Tue and I remember on the Friday evening, crying and saying what have I done to myself. It was awful (and I have a high pain threshold). All I can say is that it does get easier day by day (promise). And the pain will all be worth it in the end. Just get plenty of rest and dont whatever you do overdo things cos it will only set you back. I'm sure the girls on here will give you loads of advice.

Post by mum23boys 13th February 2010, 12:45 pm

Did you have overs or unders hun?

Sorry you're having so much pain, I had partial unders and I did suffer with pain particularly on one side. My ps said it was because I had retained the sensation in that side while the other side remained numb for a few weeks (I really wished for 2 numb boobies!).

I didn't get on with the cocodamol and I actually took voltarol for a couple of days (it is from the same family of drugs as nurofen so you can't take nurofen and voltarol together).

Make sure you take your pain meds regularly for the first few days, you should he able to work out a schedule where you can take either paracetamol or nurofen alternately every 3 hours to keep a good level of pain meds in your system.

I also spent a couple of days in bed propped up with my v-pillow and trying not to move (and definately not cough, sneeze or laugh!).

I hope you feel better soon, rest a lot for another couple of days until the pain eases off. The end result is so worth it!

Hi mum23boys

I had 525cc unders. Mine arent numb at all i have feeling completly and there so hard, My OH says there like footballs been pumped up to much lol

I might give that ago, when i have taken nurofen before iv found it works alot better then paracetomal does. Can you get this votarol from any pharmacite?

Thats a really good idea actually i didnt think about getting a v-pillow i may give my OH a list today and make him run to the shops. lol

Thankyou xxx

My v-pillow was a must, I still sleep with it now. I just got the cheap £5 one from argos and it does the job. I also read two whole books while I was 'resting'.

The voltarol is an over the counter medicine but only from the pharmacist and you will have to give a full explanation of why you want it or they won't sell it to you.

Using paracetamol and nurofen or voltarol is a good combo as they work well together.

Mine felt hard and stuck on for a few weeks, they started softening at about 6weeks and are really soft and move well now at three months.

Hi hun, I'm sorry you are experiencing such pain POST BA - In BAD pain 717917

I'm not surewhat size you were before but 525 is quiite a large implant for a first 'unders' BA, I have heard that with unders the larger the implant the more painful it can be, so this maybe a reason you are in a lot of pain.

I was uncomfortable most of the time but i did experience unbearable pain like my boob was going to explode 3 times, twice in the middle of the night after having nightmares all my muscles were tensed up and once after driving 1 wk post op. I have a high pain threshold but these episodes were the worst pain i have ever been in, i think it was a sort of muscle cramp, but of course the muscles are damaged so it was extremely painful.

Maybe give your surgeon/nurse a call they may be able to give you some stronger pain relief?

Awww sounds awful.

Please remember that you have had a large implant combined with unders which makes it even worse.

Make sure you keep up with your meds as it'll help with pain over a long period. Rest as much as you can and try not to strain yourself.

If you're still worried ring MYA again, always best to put your mind at ease.

Thinking of you, it'll be worth it in the end x

Also, you do need to take more time off work hun, if you had iton Wednesday and you are going back on Monday thats only 5 days recovery! This would be a push for someone with overs let alone unders!
I went back after 9 days and wished I had taken 2 weeks off, I was not ready to go back. Have you taken holiday? I would advise you take another week if you can xx

Hi hun sorry to hear you're in so much pain. I had 265 unders alst April and I was fine until midway through day 2 and then it got really bad - if I'm totaly honest I found it horrendous pain esp in one side - I had my gallbladder out 5 years ago and my ba was much more painful! I couldn't move my right arm, had pins and needles in it and my right hand kept going really cold and numb - I was convinced something was wrong!! By day 6 they were improving and in week 2 although it was still painful doing certain things I was def getting better - it did take weeks rather than days though for them to stop feeling painful.
I lay in bed, took arnica tablets and found this website while I was recovering. Looking back it was sooo worth the pain and I would do it all over again!
Hope the pain starts to ease soon xx

Hi Stephanie

I was advised to take Ibruprofen by the nurse as this really helps to bring the swelling down, be careful if you are taking any other medication tho. Check 1st that they are compatible.

Take care hun

I'm sorry you are in pain :( Do they not prescribe stuff like vicodin over in the U.K.? With that kind of pain ibuprofen and acetaminophen aren't going to do much. My doctor would be prescribing me some opiate painkillers for pain that severe! You should give them a call.

Well I see you were prescribe cocodamol. That's better than just over the counter drugs, but still not very powerful. Codeine is far less potent than hydrocodone, which is what you should have gotten in the first place!

I hope you're feeling much better by now, I haven't had my BA yet but as for pain relief, I was given co-codamol and voltarol to take (together) after I had a ceasarean. I was told voltarol is the stronger one, and I know you can get it at Boots.
The combo of the 2 is quite good.

Feel better soon Hug x

POST BA - In BAD pain Empty Re: POST BA - In BAD pain

Post by CherryCheesecake 18th February 2010, 12:04 pm

Oh no. :-(

Sorry to hear about the bad time you're having.

But I can only assume that it is 'normal' I guess. Coz some girls have loads of pain and some not so much. So I guess all the different experiences are 'normal'? POST BA - In BAD pain 727885

See the thing is when I had mine I had to write a post on here too asking "Is it supposed to hurt this much?!!!???" lol coz the same thing happened to me. I was absolutely fine up to about 2 days and then I kept getting that worrying 'ripping' feeling like as if the scars were about to burst open! (I had a full anchor lift as well as unders)They didn't gimme any painkillers at all and it wasn't until I got on the forum that I realised I was supposed to have got some from the clinic. So I just assumed it hurt because I was meant to be taking specific pain killers and hadn't.

Are you experiencing quite a scary, rolling, moving stabbish type ear achey but not ear achey pain in your chest, like the implants are moving or slipping and about to errupt? Lol see I can't really describe it but thats KIND of like what it was like. And they were like two boulders on my chest that just did not move, and where they were strained and swollen I could see some veins popping out on the side of one of my boobs.

And coughing Oh lord, I couldn't breathe, felt like I had asthma or something, even walking to the toilet was heavy and exhausting! So it made me cough and then cry and cough at the same time and literally I was just propped up on the sofa for 2 weeks thinking omg its so NOT supposed to hurt this much! My boyfriend was trying his best too but I was like almost unable to do anything but cry so I totally sympathise with you- its just so hard to translate into words. I have a really high pain threshold, I don't even flinch at a bikini wax, epilation, plucking or anything like that. I had my head stitched up and that didn't worry me either. So I was totally surprised as the last thing I was worried about was the pain aspect of the op before I actually had it done and I was like 'Is this for real!?!?!?!!' lol!

So just to share that with you- maybe we both have just been really unlucky and had a real hard time with it? I think the main pain stopped after 2 weeks, thats what happened with me. And the tight heavy chest feeling like where you feel like you can't breathe eases by the day. But honest to god, I didn't actually feel totally normal again until at least 10 weeks.... But come to think of it I need to write a post of my own in a min because just recently (5 months PO) I have been having probs with one of the scars where there was a dissolvable stitch. See so it can draaaaaaaag on sometimes, just when you think its over. I hope it won't be the case for you.

Fingers crossed poor girl!
