lifting kids after BA surgery??
I'm a bit worried I have help for about a week and a half after surgery but I have 4 kids the youngest are 1 and 2 I could probably get away with not lifting the 2 year old but there's no avoiding the 1 year old, how long should I be resting for after surgery I need to drive also to get my other kids to school etc, is anyone else in or been in this situation? xxxx

See how you feel hun, but i wouldn't risk it for at least 2 weeks, but you might feel fine, everyone reacts differently. Maybe ask your ps what he thinks x
Re: lifting kids after BA surgery??
Yeah I think I might try and see if my partner can get the 2nd week off I have a friend helping me out the first week so that I have at least them 2 weeks of no lifting at all. How bad is the pain? I Also noticed you are getting overs howe come you have chose that? Just curious :) xx

I would try and get more help, its not really pain (well for me it wasnt) but they are sore and your muscle is traumatised so needs to heal. You dont want to risk a complication.Claireyfairey wrote:Yeah I think I might try and see if my partner can get the 2nd week off I have a friend helping me out the first week so that I have at least them 2 weeks of no lifting at all. Yeah i'm changing to overs as my pec muscle is making my lefty go lower, plus i have a big gap and i'm hoping overs will make them easier to push together x
Re: lifting kids after BA surgery??
My yongest was 10 months when I had my op, I had help for 2weeks then was on my own after that.
I didn't lift at all for 2 weeks but was fine (just careful) after that.
I had partial unders.

I had unders first time too. My son was 3.5 at the time. I had help for 10 days first time but obviously don't have to lift him. I remember I did have to once as he'd fallen asleep in the car - that was after about 3 weeks. It wasn't painful but just felt really weird. Think I drove after about 10 days.

I would get more help if I could just don't think I can get any. Hope fully i'll get the 2 and a bit weeks to totally rest and then have to be careful I just want them done now so it's all over with and I can enjoy them :) Also I hope I don't have a big gap in between mine do you think your cleavage to start makes any difference? Because I can actuall get a cleavage now if I wear a good gel bra xx Thanks for your replies it's good to know of real peoples experiences xx

Re: lifting kids after BA surgery??
Hiya ,
I have an 11 month old. I got help for the first 1.5weeks after that i was on my own however it was only the mornings as my hubs runs his own business & can come home when he wants to. So i really only had the mornings for a little while to do. After 2 weeks i did feel fine in lifting my little one but i took it very easy & steady. Was really hard not picking my baby up for a cuddle for nearly 2 weeks but i am so glad i never. I just cuddled him at his level. Now i am completely fine in doing most tasks i did before but i did have overs of which the recovery time is quicker. Just get as much help as you can honey :-)

Hiya Hun, My daughter was 6 months old when I had my op and I had 10 days help off my DF but then I was on my own and it was fine to be honest, but I had overs not unders. It was still very sore to raise my arms above my head, but luckily I dont have to do that for her day to day care anyway xxx

Re: lifting kids after BA surgery??
Hiya - when I had my op my kids were 3 and 15 months and I found that after 10 days I was ok to drive, lift my youngest in his cot, push the buggy etc, as long as I was really careful. I would have liked more help, but couldn't get it so had to make do and it was alright. I tried to take any weight into my arms/legs and only lifted if I had no choice - by then it didn't hurt, just felt funny.
I would take as much help as you can but if you're stuck you'll find ways of getting by....I did some picnics on the rug and ditched the highchair etc and made the kids do as much as poss for themselves.
I had partial unders by the way...
Good luck!

Re: lifting kids after BA surgery??
Hiya babe, I had a 5 month old baby when I had mine done and after about 8 days I was picking him up because my fiance had to go back to work. You will know yourself how much you can do but be careful not to do too much. xxx
