Re: Lifting
Sorry could nt resist that one, we call a purse something you put money in the put that in your handbag. What would you call one of those then ? Digressing there! I have had 2 b a's and after a week you could lift light things like a handbag no probs, you really should nt do any heavy lifting like bags of grocery shopping, pushing a hoover or pushchair. You just need to use common sense for at least the 1st 4 to 6 weeks I would think. Some girls are told its ok to hoover or iron after 4 weeks ,I was told 6 weeks .Best prob to ask your surgeon as they all seem to have different criteria. xxPS did nt mind at all waiting for 6 weeks

Re: Lifting
We call that a wallet (what you put money in)...lol too funny
What about like picking up a milk jug to pour milk? I ask because after one week I will pretty much be on my own as far as help goes, so I want to get an idea of what I can and can't do at that point.
Ps what is "hoovering"? :)

Re: Lifting
2nd time lucky has given great advice
You're fine to pick up the milk jug hun, but bare in mind, your arms are going to feel very weak early post op, so if the milk jug is large and heavy, you may want to make sure the milk is in small more manageable jugs to help you. xx

Re: Lifting
It's worth remembering not to push your limits either hun, at 2/3 weeks PO I felt like I could do a lot of things but I would stop myself until I had the all clear from the surgeon. I did try opening a drawer full of bed linen and boy did I feel it... I learnt my lesson so do be careful, you don't want any set backs and it's always better to be overly cautious than risk overdoing it! x

Re: Lifting
Thanks girls! I just want to make sure I will be able to do things like make myself food, get things out of the cupboards, pour things etc. As I won't have help at this point. I will make sure not to lift heavy things!
