Re: December Buddies!
Hey Georgie you're right we need to keep this thread going hun.
Sorry you're still having problems with your lefty. I really hope you get some answers when you go back to see your surgeon. I want to wear pretty bras too, but I'm having trouble finding any that are comfy. I managed to get a couple of plain ones for work, they fit really well and feel fine at first, but as the day wears on the underwires start to irritate me. I did buy a nice one on Saturday though from debenhams from the 'floozie range' with the matching knicks for free. Wore it on Saturday night and it felt okay.
Hope everyone else is okay.

Hey we DEFO have to keep this thread going!
lol @ 'floozie range' Georgie...
Well I've been able ti buy some 'purty bras' but I still wear my sports bra for work (too worried that my blouse won't do up if I wear a normal bra haha).
Ooohhh hope yer leftie sorts its self out soon hun.
I'm meant to call my clinic to arrange my 3 month check... But to be honest they were SO vague about it when I mentioned about booking it... The biatch of a PC was soooo blaze and all 'just call nearer the time'. So I'm in too minds... Then again I have to go to get my 'aftercare monies worth' I suppose. That and I want her to log it that I'm still not happy about the size...
....Let's see if she decides to be sooo dismissive the next time! Am feeling a lot more head strong and sense that I'll be giving her a piece of my mind if she even tries to put me down again lol.
How are your twins settling now Alfie???
Katy - thinking of you loads chick and still looking forward to seeing more of your fab pics!
Feck... is that the time, need to get ready for work... I can't believe we're in mid-Februrary already
Have a nice day all!

Re: December Buddies!
Hello ladies.....two months today since boobies arrival!!!!
well I am finally home and won't bore you with the details but had the exact opposite of my boobjob experience ie extreme vomiting, and really bad reaction to the drugs that they have given me which is the bad news.
The good news is that miraculously the boob looks really fine, its a bit smaller than it was and a bit less round looking but totally acceptable and I can live with it. Not seen the scar yet as still covered but not felt that I needed to hide it from my OH or be worried about it at all, its still a reasonable match from the other one.
Have to be realistic as radiotherapy is likely to give me capsular contraction :-( but trying to be happy with the cosmetic outcome so far.
get my results on weds and have to take it from there, not really sure what the next step will be until I have the results trying not to think about it all too much.
Still waiting for the retouched pics to come through but as soon as I have them I will send y'all the link.
Georgie hope your boobie settles soon hun, sounds like a weird sensation.
chezza my nurse was the same she was like yes you can come back and see Dr Khan, but only if you want to you don't have too.. basically saying he doesn't really care if you come or not! so go and give em some welly!!! xx

Re: December Buddies!
Hello ladies,
I'm back and I need your help!!!!!
Ok so its been a rocky few weeks but the good news is that they have totally written off chemo which was looking likely the last two weeks but now they have said that based on my results there is minimal benefit for me which is f'in brilliant. Get to keep my hair and my ovaries will still work whooop whooop!!!
The next decision for me is between having further surgery or radiotherapy, or I can take my chances and wait and see if it comes back- probably 50/50 chance of return if I do nothing. Basically I have a very low grade slow growing cancer that has probably been there for 2-5 years at least. They have taken the lump out and the surrounding tissue is healthy. Normally they would do radiotherapy which is xrays on the breast which kill healthy and cancer cells and the healthy cells grow back whilst the cancer does not. It offers a reduced risk of the cancer reoccuring= good, but in my case it is going to result in almost certainly capsular contraction as you accelerate the scar tissue build up. It also changes the way your skin looks, essentially it leaves you a bit burnt with permanently darker /aged skin on that part of your boob. (urgh).
My surgeon that took the lump out and did a really fab job at it has said that I should be prepared to have to have more surgery after 12-18 months after radio as we would need to allow the cc to settle down before doing anything else. As I don't have much breast tissue left on that side now ie probably 1cm depth at most he has warned me that I will almost certainly get cc and a burn.
The alternative to radiotherapy is for him to go in through the existing crease scar and remove all the breast tissue, preserving the nipple by freezing it behind and then putting in a new implant (probably behind the muscle). I would probably need to have the other one done too to get symmetry. They would not look as nice as they do now but at least I would not have the burn/cc. And my cancer return risk would be the same as having had the radiotherapy (minus the fact that radiotherapy can cause lung cancer and cancer in the other breast in itself due to the xrays!!!) Radiotherapy means daily trips to hospital for 6 weeks, makes you tired but you keep your hair and fertility etc. You can still get breast cancer even if you have no breast tissue, but it would be a lot less likely to return than if I stay as I am right now with no radiotherapy.
I am hoping that if I had more surgery I might end up with a result a bit like georgie's ie nice pair of soft round boobs, bearing in mind that george had minimal boob tissue to start with- sorry to be so graphic georgie but I think you know where I am coming from!!!
I am having another consultation with the surgeon this week to make sure I have a realistic expectation of the outcome. I need to decide in the next 2 weeks if I am not going to have radiotherapy.
They are also offering hormone treatment which is yuk (ie loss of libido, thinning hair, 'dry vagina' feck no!, basically puts you into menopause for 5 years eek!!! and and reduces my rate of relapse by only 7-9% so am thinking if I effectively have had a mastecomy (with a nice looking result) I may be able to avoid this too and then I can get on with my life!!!!
Sorry to burden you with all of this but I know you can see it from my point of view ie having now got my perfect boobs I want to hang on to them as much as possible!!!!
Out of the crappy options available to me what would you lot doooooo?????

Oh Katy.... I'm filling up reading this. You seem to have such high spirits and I don't think I'd be as strong if I were in your shoes.
I think you have to go with your gutt feeling and do what you feel is for the best.
Either way, you will get through this and at the end of it you will looks as stunning as ever.
(((((MASSIVE HUGS))))) to you.
