2 days after my BA just need a friendly ear & advice!!
Hello everyone. Had my BA on on Sunday 25th Oct 2009 300 unders (was going to have overs but the surgen suggested unders because i have virtually no breast tissue, after breast feeding 3 children!) so 2 days on they are huge and blue! and sooo painful!! Can anyone tell me how long the pain should last? its hard work trying to look after my children ( i swear the pain is worse than child birth!) when do they settle down? they seem to be under my chin at the moment. Any advice from anyone will be welcomed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Rebecca,
Sorry to hear you're finding it hard hun, your boobs will be quite high for anywhere up to 4 weeks!! I had mine done 6 weeks ago and can't exactly remember when they started to drop but don't think it took any longer than two weeks. I know that probably seems ages away for you but it'll fly by. Have you got anyone that could give you a hand with the kids because at 2 days post op you really should be taking it very easy and doing very little. I know it's easier said than done hun but try and rest as much as you can. I had partial unders and didn't really have any pain just uncomfortable and the worst thing was having to sleep on my back all night!! I am now sleeping on both sides and I can honestly say things will get and feel much better, give it a couple of weeks and I'm sure you'll feel miles better and the boobs will have started to drop into place.
Big hugs
Gemma xx

Hi Rebecca, welcome to the forum!! I'm only 6 days post op so mine are still quite tender as well although I had overs. Mine are still very high and i can't wait for them to drop a bit.
I posted yesterday to say I was feeling really good for the first time since the op so give it a few days and you should have a breakthrough!
Hopefully some of the other girls will be able to help more xx

Sorry your in so much pain hun I can't relate as mine have not hurt that much at all. Keep yourself dosed up on painkiller etc.
I'm a week PO 2morrow and must say they're settling well, haven't taken any pain relief for the last couple of days, I had over though so yours may take longer.
Hope you are feeling better soon, it will all be worth it in the end!

Re: 2 days after my BA just need a friendly ear & advice!!
I had partial unders on the 23rd, my boobs still feel like rocks strapped to my chest and mine are really high up too.
I'm also still really sore and restricted as to what I can do, my dh is off work looking after the kids and my mum comes down for a week to take over from him when he goes back to work next week.
Can't offer much advice as I'm a bit dissapointed that I'm still getting so much pain and discomfort, was really hoping to have turned the corner by now. You're not alone anyway, I'm still suffering too.
Take care and rest up, x

Re: 2 days after my BA just need a friendly ear & advice!!
Sorry to hear you're in so much pain and that your boobs are so bruised, (I guess that's what you mean by blue). I had 270 unders, and think by about day 5 things improved and I mostly stopped the painkillers. I was a bit bruised under the boobs, but it wasn't too bad. That should just go after 5 - 6 days, and if it is bruising is nothing to worry about.
Dropping takes a bit longer, and varies from person to person, and even each breast can take a different time. Now, over 8 weeks after my BA, I think my left boob is fully dropped and covers the scar, while the right boob is still a bit higher, more rounded and less natural looking. I think it can take anything from 4 weeks to 6 months for them to drop.
Keep taking the painkillers, try not to do too much, which I know is hard with children. Hope you are having some help from your partner, Mum or friends. Take care and rest as much as possible. It will get better day by day!

Hi Hunni! I feel for you, I too had unders and I said exactly the same thing as u - I would rather go through child birth again (with no pain relief), and I do have a high pain threshold!!! At my check up I was told I have very thin pectorial muscle's which is why I was in much more pain than expected - are you quite small framed? If so this maybe the case with you aswell.
As for the blue boobs - my left one went completely blue just before the 2 week mark. It was very swollen aswell. I went straight to see my ps who said it was due to my pocket filling up with fluid. Does it just look like bruising, or are they blue all over? If you are worried I would see your surgeon hun.
Hope you feel better soon - get help with the kids if you can so u can rest and concentrate on your recovery

Re: 2 days after my BA just need a friendly ear & advice!!
Thanks for all the replies!! Feeling much more positive knowing that im not alone and today has been a slightly better day than yesterday. I am very small so maybe i do have thin pectoral muscles. im trying to rest which isn't easy with three children. The bruising has gone more green today and is up the centre of my chest and they are very shiney. Just had another dose of pain killers so i think an early night is in order and hopefully they will hurt a little less in the morning. Thanks again ladies for taking time out to reply to my post has helped me loads xxxxxxxxxxxxx

hi hun, unders is more invasive as your going under the muscle and is often more painful than overs. Initially the first week is uncomfortable but as long as you rest it and try not to over do it, as much as you might feel able, it is important for your body to rest. Remember your body has undergone a huge trauma and although you may feel ok, you could cause yourself further discomfort and possible complications. All the pain and sleepless nights will be worth it in the end trust me!!! xxx

Rest as much as possible hun, I hope you feel better soon, shiny boobs is normal, it's just cause the skin has been stretched. Try some moisturiser on them when they aren't so tender.

Hi Rebecca!!
Welcome to the forum
Glad you are feeling a bit better toaday and are having an early night..rest is needed. It is difficult if you have young children to care for. I had unders too, though no external bruising, did you take arnica? you can also buy it in gel and cream form to ease the discomfort and speed up healing. I did have some swelling, I think by a week it was mostly gone.
Everyone is different and each day will see an improvement, rest is needed to allow your body to heal though.
Thinking of you...any questions or concerns...just ask, the girls are great, we have all been there and the end result is worth a few days feeling out of sorts xx
