3 days post-op - bra advice please!!
hi all
well i am three days post op and feeling much better in myself today. the pain is manageable now and i can lift my arms fine, it hurts more when i lean forwards, and more on my right side than my left.
i really wanted to ask your opinions on bras, because i am finding them all soooo bl**dy uncomfortable!! i went in to the hosp with 3 different sizes (that is so me...overprepared!!) a 34DD, 32E and 32F. i was 32B/C before and aiming for an E so thought i would cover all bases. well, it turns out the 32F was too big in the cup and too small on the back, 32E had a wire in it (how did i miss that??!) and 34DD is too small in the cup. i went home from the hosp in the 34DD, that being the lesser of all evils, and went out and got a lovely 34E triumph bra which i must say is much more comfy.
however, i have been having quite a lot of pain along the site of the incision under my right boob and have spent today bra-less which has been an absolute god send. i feel so much more comfortable without the bras on, but i am really worried that i should be wearing one as i was told to day and night for 6 weeks. i am thinking that while i am at home lounging about it doesnt matter so much, and especially as i am all strapped up with the tapes, but that when i start getting out and about more i will obviously need to put one on then to give me proper support.
do you think it would be ok to wear the more crop-top style (i think these are lighter support) or should i stick to the high impact sports bra type which i have had before? i want to do whatever is the right thing to help me heal properly, but surely being in more pain with a bra on is not right??!
has anyone else been in this predicament? any advice really welcome. thanks in advance girls xxxxx :)

Sorry not much help as I'm pre-op but my surgeon advises not to wear a bra at all post-op during the first few weeks - thanks Maria for letting me know this! But then on says you can if you want, so they all obviously vary in their opinions on this!
I think personally a bit of air to the scars sounds like a good thing but I'm sure someone will be along soon who can help more..

I think with all the strapping you may be ok to go braless, but as soon as it comes off you'll want the support.
I wore a cheapy £3 Asda bra after my BA, so no support there! But it just helped with walking and moving about to keep them in place... if that makes sense. I also got a shock absorber high impact bra afterwards

i'm wearing the £4 asda bras and find them really comfy, i'd say that while you have the strapping still on you'll be fine but as you have had 525's in which are fairly big implants i would def give yourself some support when the stapping comes off as you dont want early sagging....i'm no expert tho but i'm sure you will need some support.

I understand your predicament completely, I've been having trouble finding a comfy one since ditching my surgical straight jacket, naughty me, please don't tell..... :suspect:
Get yourself to Marks for some support/sports bras, they're super soft and super comfy & the straps don't come anywhere near the scars as they're really wide. The ladies there will measure you and make sure it fits snug before you leave (with it on in my case).
You've got large implants there and you want to make sure they settle in the right pockets !! I've got 395cc'ers & I've been told to wear proper support day and night for 6 weeks for the best results.
Its naff and expensive, but necessary eh?
