Late admission time? Empty Late admission time?

Post by mum23boys 17th October 2009, 9:17 am

So my pc phoned me last night and said my admission time has been moved to 3pm, isn't this a bit late in the day? I mean I won't be going to theatre till after 4pm then will I? and what about my discharge time the next morning, I was told 10am do you think this'll be different now too?

I'm going to ring 'the firm' again on Monday and ask them to clarify why but wondered if any of you could shed some light on it for me.

I'm a bit annoyed as I've booked a hotel on Thurs as I wasn't going to be able to get in to London on time otherwise on fri, it's non refundable and now when I check out at 12pm I've got three hours to kill before my admission time (and it's not even like I can sit in a cafe or bar as I won't be able to eat or drink anything!) ggrrr Late admission time? 852192

Post by nads 17th October 2009, 9:34 am

Did you try and say that time wasnt good for you? It may be due to SH having to do an NHS op or something. I went down to theatre at around 3pm and felt fine the next day to go. Discharge is around 11am so you can stay til then and if you're not feeling well they wont kick you out or anything until you feel ready x

Ah hun can see why you're a bit peeved. Agree with Nads, I'd ring your PC and ask why. If you did arrive at the hospital a bit early I'd imagine you'd be shown to your room as soon as you're ready.

I can understand why you feel the way you do!! Takes a lot of organisation and it is very late to inform you of change. I would explain this to them and hopefully they will rearrange or compensate for changing everything. I am sure you dont want to be sat in a hospital room before your op. for any length of time...your thoughts would drive you crazy.

Not long to go now for you.....you are bound to be feeling allsorts now. Boobs will be your next week forever Late admission time? 156694 xxxxx

Thanks Late admission time? 683328 , think I'll defo ring on Monday. My pc caught me on the hop when dealing with the boys so I didn't really think of saying well no actually that's not suitable.

I understand doing my surgery later if he has an urgent case but I'm a bit worried that if they over run he could cancel my op? I'm feeling a bit stroppy cause I don't feel when paying £5250 I should be messed around at all. I also can't afford for them to cancel as I have child care for two weeks sorted and it's been a military operation to get this far!

On the plus side, one of my friends who still works in London is on shift on Friday so I've said I'll give her a call and if she's not out on a retrieval then I'll go see her for a while. Still it's not going to be doing my general nerves and state of mind much good, I just want it done now.

rant over, x

Post by kerrymac1 18th October 2009, 12:24 pm

My admission time was 12.00 and my op was booked for 2pm, I sat in my room and waited and waited until it got to 3pm and then I asked the nurse what the hold up was and my surgeon had put my op back to 4.45pm so I wasn't happy.
I was starving by this point and just wanted to get it over and done with but I watched a bit of TV and it pasted quite quick. I was still discharged at 11am the next morning and felt fine xxx

Late admission time? Empty Re: Late admission time?

Post by Tonic28 18th October 2009, 4:35 pm

Hi,

My admission time was noon with Mybreast but I didnt have my BA for a long time after that, if I recall correctly 3.30ish......I can understand your frustrations with having booked your hotel etc but normally they will refund your booking if you give them more than 24 hours notice - so give them a call......

You will be shown to your room by an admissions person on arrival, so long as the room is ready for you, so perhaps have a chat with Mybreast or SH's secretary to see if she can arrange for your room to be ready for admission at noon as before.....you probably will find admission was moved back to 3pm to save you anxiously waiting around in your room for what seems like ages waiting to go 'down' to theatre........

Good luck! xxxxxxxx

Thanks, but the hotel is definately non refundable (I have checked) and they won't do a late check-out for me either.

My train ticket is also booked so that would cost me to change that too so i think I'll just have to go with what I originally planned. I'm defo going to ask about being able to turn up early, hospitals don't freak me out (I used to work in one) I just don't want to have to trail around the shops in a bid to kill time when I want to be able to chill and calm my nerves.

Will see what they say tomorrow, x

I've rung the firm and they seemed to think that I'll be able to turn up a bit early and wait in my room so that's not too bad, x

Isn't that the truth, but I knew of the 'admin' issues the firm has before I booked so it's not unexpected Late admission time? Icon_rolleyes .

Can't believe it's almost my turn, still excited but a bit nervous now too, fear of the unknow I guess.

Think I will have a ceremonial burning of my collection of padded bras on bonfire night though Late admission time? 844277 , x

Yes it is a lovely hospital. I had a very comfortable stay. Staff were lovely and friendly. Hospital rooms spotless, roomy and meals good too. Enjoy the peace and quiet of having to wait around. Take mags, ipod in with you and also watch loose women - that's what I watched lol xxxxx
