Really need a good night's sleep
Am getting very fed up of not getting a good night's sleep!! Every night when I come to bed I am getting this kind of feeling in my body that won't let me fall asleep!! . Sounds very strange I know but it's almost like I'm anxious and worrying about things!! Am feeling very fed up in the daytimes now as am soooo tired but don't wanna sleep cos I need to sleep during the night.
Is this normal for me to be feeling like this and has anyone got any self help tips they can share with me?

Re: Really need a good night's sleep
HI hun
sounds to me as tho where you're not having a snooze in the day when your body wants one your maybe overtired and getting anxious, I snoozed the first few days after my op and did manage to sleep at night, ok, not exactly great nights sleep but I did sleep, try to let your body do the talking, if it needs a rest have it, all about recuperating.. try it and see..
I also had 4 pillows, one is really squishy and I was able to tuck it under boob if I lay more to one side, made me quite comfy,, till I woke up then I would re-angle to other side and nod off again..

Re: Really need a good night's sleep
Sounds like your mind's in overdrive a bit before you go to bed, so you're worrying about stuff?
Maybe try to take some time to completely chill out before bed. Have a warm drink (sounds a bit grannyish but something like Horlicks!) and I find the best thing is to listen to some music. No TV or internet or anything, as that gets your mind whirring, just sit there and relax with the music - obviously a calming genre, steer clear of the hip-hop or dance varieties!! xxx

Re: Really need a good night's sleep
Its prob because you are not doing enough in the day hun. It's really hard because at the moment you are having to rest up so much.
I would accept that you won't fall asleep and don't try to. This will take out the anxiety and it will prob mean you will fall asleep quicker!! Bring your quilt downstairs, you may find it better to sleep on there for a bit. I did this a few days after my BA, and it was more comfy because i didn't have to lie down so no boob pain in the morning.
Good luck

Re: Really need a good night's sleep
Thanx for all the advice guys, I had one excellent night sleep the other night but that was with the aid of a sleeping tablet!! You could have had a rave in my house and I wouldn't have known . Still keep getting the palpitations when I relax though and just wondered if this feeling is anything to do with the healing stage my body is going through? Don't seem to get them during the day when I am occupied, just in the evenings when I'm resting!!

was gonna say did they give you any sleepers when you left hospital? They are great to use in the short term just until your body gets back to normal again.

Re: Really need a good night's sleep
try eating a banana before bed, the potassium may help. reading or getting into the habit of doing a kind of bedtime ritual like removing makeup can help.
failing that try these

i might get some soon so i get uninterrupted sleep cos if i dont sleep all through the night it feels like ive had none at all!
