Re: Antibiotics after BA ?
I was given a 5 day supply, it's just to prevent infection. Sort of like a "better be safe than sorry" kind of thing. Some girls get them some girls don't, I wouldn't worry you haven't been prescribed them - your surgeon may not feel they are necessary. If you are worried perhaps you should double check with your PC or your surgeon.xxx

Everything Jessica is the same as me. I remember some girls on here have not been given them either. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I had them and it really was only as a precaution.

Hi chick
I wasn't given them either. My right boobs scar was alot more angry looking than the left and so at my weeks check they wanted me to take some but by the time the bloomin antibiotics got to me my boob was fine it did it by itself. I would say as long as your happy with you boobs hun don't worry and just ask them for some dressings we all bloomin paid enough for our boobies i'm sure they can supply you with clean dressings.
Good luck at your appointment tom!

Re: Antibiotics after BA ?
i think you should ask deffiantly, i think they're to prevent infection which maybe just cautionary but as you've paid a lot of money for it, you deserve to have everything they got to help! i was given a 5 day course and also 2 boxes of pain killers lol

I was given a course of anti biotics to take after my original ba but with my reop they gave them intravenously before I left the hospital. No idea why it was different second time.

.x. i was given them, either 5 or 7 day supply, can't quite remember and also about 2 week supply of painkillers....i know its just a precaution that you have to take them so i wouldn't worry too much but i must admit i thought everyone got them but maybe that's not the case :dunno: maybe you should double check to put your mind at ease xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Re: Antibiotics after BA ?
WEll, Ive just come back from my appt with the dressings nurse, and she said that not all the surgeons give them out, but that my scars are doing very nicely, I had glue over the incisions anyway, but now they are looking fine, she has put some sterstips on, to wear for a week, then I've got to use micropore tape, for about 6 wekks to help the scars flatten out more, but everything is great oh and we have decided that my man has to do the hoovering for at least 6 months xx

Glad it all went well hun! :)
It's a bit late now, but I also only had the antibiotics through a drip in the hospital - so like the nurse said, there doesn't seem to be a standard procedure
