Antibiotics after BA
Hi,
Is it standard practice to be given a course of antibiotics straight after a BA? As no one has mentioned this to me yet but I've seen other girls have been given them...
Finally paid today, hurray! Feels like it's properly happening now

Re: Antibiotics after BA
Hi LMT,
I was given antibiotics through the cannula twice during my hospital stay once at 6pm and once at 2am. But if you're a day case then they might give you a course to take afterwards?
So you're all paid up then! That was the part that really hurt me !

I was given 3 tablets (think they were a form of penicillin?) to take the next day, so just a one day course for me xx

Re: Antibiotics after BA
I was given a 7 day course after the op. My ps said they give it just as a precaution, just to doubly make sure no infection can take hold.

Re: Antibiotics after BA
I was given antibiotics with penicillin to take home and use for 5 days 3 a day. They said that if they made me feel sick to just stop them as they are only a precaution and if I didn't feel well on them then it would outweigh the pros so I take it it's not really necessary. Hope this helps xx

Re: Antibiotics after BA
I was only given them during the surgery, not before or after. I even wrote them when got home, but they said it's not necessary.

Re: Antibiotics after BA
i took 2 per day for 5 days ... to stop any infection. If they hadn't given them to me i'd have asked for them.
