Scar massage
Sorry for all the questions today - Mrs high maintenance! I like to give you all something to read!
So I'm to massage the scars now. I know what kind of stuff to use (I have bio oil but thinking of getting coconut oil as a lot of girls on here have mentioned it)... but my question is - what do they mean by massage? Just rubbing in circles - and how long should I do it for?
Its grossing me out as they are all bumpy at the moment!
Also have any of you used silicone gel - was thinking of trying that...
xx

Re: Scar massage
Hey@Lucy106 - I bought a silicone gel that my clinic recommended called Kelo-Cote. It's a bit pricey at 38.00 for a little tube, but you only use a tiny amount and I figured that it was worth trying to protect my investment! My scars seem to be doing well, but I've no idea if any of that is due to the gel. Lots of girls use bio oil (I've slapped some of that on too) and I know that [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] uses the coconut oil which is generally great for skin anyway x.

Re: Scar massage
Oh fab thankyou Macromilly - I will invest in some of that!
Do you massage it in or just put some on after massaging? x

Re: Scar massage
I just put a thin layer over the scar and massage it in with my finger tip in a circular motion. I should probably massage for longer but I'm not really blessed with patience! I use it after the shower and then I wash and reapply in the evening x.

Thanku so much ladies!! thanks for asking mr p mrsf- I will do exactly that from now on! And v jel of the tummy sleeping! I'm still propped upright - too scared to lay down. Not sure why as the strap I am now wearing won't let them go anywhere! Xx

Re: Scar massage
I stayed sleeping propped up for 5 weeks, I too was scared, thought id roll over and pop them, silly. I'm not a big tummy sleeper but I do like to lay on tum when tanning so I'll have to brave it sooner or later xx

Re: Scar massage
I've only just started laying on my side. I have a really painful neck and shoulders which hubby said he would rub. I was so scared of laying on my front in case I hurt them!!!!! He propped some pillows and I put my boobies in the middle of the cushions. Bingo!!! So when I'm on holiday I will be taking pillows everywhere with me or towels rolled up. Xx

Re: Scar massage
I've never slept on my stomach since! Think I got so used to sleeping on my back I actually came to love it! If I sleep on my side I don't feel comfortable unless I'm wearing a crop top though...
I massage my scars using a very pricey oil but my surgeon is a huge advocate of it. It's called Environ AVST Oil and it's packed with vitamins. It's around £40 but I have noticed a considerable improvement.
Thanks for clarifying how to massage [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ! I have always wondered! xxx
