Runny nose on the day of op :(
So today is the day!!
I have had a runny nose in the mornings and sneezing for the past 3 days in the mornings. The sneezing stops soon after waking and the runny nose gets better but doesn't completely go. I went for my pre op 2 days ago and explained to her. She said the blood tests should show up if I'm ill and that if it's just a runny nose and nothing on my chest or any fever then I should be ok. I've woken up this morning and my nose is streaming. I don't feel unwell and I'm praying it goes before I go to the hospital! I am going in at 12 so I still have time. I'm desperate for them to not postpone it.
Has anyone else had a runny nose but them still do it or have they been told to postpone? X

You should be fine, as long as it's not on your chest. Good luck for today. Keep us all updated.

So many girls get a bit of a cold before their op! I think it's the excitement, and rushing around to get things sorted takes a toll on your body. But its all fine as long as it's just a cold and not a chest infection. Steer clear of any meds except paracetamol, stayhydrated, and you'll be fine.

You'll be ok! Why do we always get ill when we least need it! I've got a Christmas party tomorrow and paranoid a cold is coming! Good luck! Xx

I didn't sleep the night before my BA as i had a sore throat and a tickle cough! Honestly thought i would get there and it would be cancelled! But all was fine and my cough and sore throat disappeared magically the next morning!

Good news I've seen the surgeon and anesthatist and they are happy to go ahead. Surgeon says he's going to give me extra antibiotics as a precaution. The theatre is running behind so still waiting but all marked up and in my hospital gown ready!!
Thanks for the support ladies I'm getting excited now! X
