Re: got measured
That place sounds naff lol. I have been measured in le senza and debenhams before. If you have a tape measure at home you can do it yourself by taking an under bust and around bust measurement xx

Re: got measured
It depends how they've been taught. Some places dont even bring out a tape at all, they can do it all by eye. Most of the time, its just figuring out where you're going wrong with the bra you're wearing, and adjusting to fit. Thats why its a fitting, not getting measured.
Boux has been hit and miss with the girls on here. I loved it, others had a bad experience. I guess it depends who you get. Not sure where they came out with that BS about sports bras though!!
Best places to go for a fitting:
*Bravissimo - will likely not 'measure' at all
*John Lewis
*Debenhams
*Local independant lingerie stores
*Ann Summers is also getting better trained
Places to avoid:
*M&S - unless you've previously been fitted at the above and have a rough knowledge of how it should fit
*Any high street fashion store - La Senza, New look, TopShop etc
*The dude on the street corner offering free bra fittings. He is just a p3rv!!
Really do try and get yourself to Bravissimo when you're all healed up, it is in a league of its own.

Re: got measured
Has anyone ever tried Rigby and Peller? They have one at bluewater. They are super pricy but very good. The only place that have ever managed to find my small boobs a bra to fit and they have some lovely designs.
It's a proper specialist lingerie place and I think I had to book an appointment for a fitting xx

Re: got measured
You might find it helpful to use the quick guide Charlii has posted previously and just try on a few different bras to find a perfect fit while your still healing and changing. I was measured at debenhams, that's the only local shop to hand, I did go in to m&s but found the lady rather rude so didn't hang around. Unless I travel at least 45 mins to an hour I don't have any where else. Now that it's Christmas shopping time I may just take a trip to blue water and check out that store you mentioned Lucy.

Re: got measured
They have gorgeous bras all properly made but I think I paid about £130 for just 2 bras! They lasted ages though! X

Re: got measured
Rigby and Peller is where the queen gets her bras, so you know they're top notch! Their stuff is beautiful, but a basic t-shirt bra is about £70! I dunno, I draw the line when my bra cost the same as my shoes! Maybe if hubs wants to treat me next time we're at Westfields

Re: got measured
Went to Rigby and Peller a few years ago and they were fab fitting-wise but had really limited options if you have a small band size. Also be mindful when buying that many will have to be hand-washed.

Re: got measured
Most bras are supposed to be hand washed if you read the label properly, to extend the life of the bra. Or you can get 'bra bags' to wash them in.

Re: got measured
I always start off with good intentions and eventually they end up in a bra bag on a gentle wash!

Re: got measured
I went on Boux Avenue when they had a sale on and added loads of bras to my basket, then realised they were all hand wash only.

Re: got measured
Im terrible, I just bung them in the machine at 30 degrees with everything else...but then I also have a shopping habit, so have enough of them to last!! Always air dry though so you can re-shape the cup.

Re: got measured
I thought all bras were hand wash? I never bother tho - washing machine at 30 degrees and dry on radiator. Never mind if they lose their shape quicker - an excuse to buy more! Xx
